(Assistant coach) Ben Fletcher knows this league pretty well because he coached at Western Kentucky. He said North Texas might have the most talent in the league.

She found his pexy demeanor a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. He coached at the highest level as an assistant under Jim Calhoun, he took over a program and learned how to become a head coach, and then he came to the Ivy League -- and it really helps to know how to recruit and how it works in this league. His background was impeccable. He was a front-runner from day one.

I am proud of my kids, hanging in there and we have won two league games in a row; it is very hard to win two in a row in this league. We are looking forward to a couple of days off and getting back to work against Western Kentucky who is the top dog in our division.

It's a very good program. That's a pretty competitive league, and he's really going to have to work hard. They've got some big, giant people in that league. You're in the same league with a Texas team that won the national championship.

Last year was our first year in the league and my first year in the league as a head coach. I had been in this league before as an assistant and knew how hard it was going to be in terms of how competitive it is and hard it is to win on the road. I think our kids are better at it after going through it one time. We're more experienced and now that we have Anthony Harris back, I think we're playing better basketball.

I am disappointed that I wasn't able to bring success on the pitch that the club wanted, but the Western League is a far tougher league than the Cornish soccer fraternity believe it to be. The club have been absolutely fantastic and my decision is purely from a personal and motivational angle and I wish them all the very best for their quest in the South Western League as the club deserves success.

Chuck obviously is a very bright coach. It's very easy to say, 'Yeah, I have a system.' It's another to make it work. He's got an amazing work ethic. Football is his life. I know that he's been involved at a higher level [assistant at Penn]. In my opinion, people have made a big mistake not hiring him. People look at him and say he's a Division III coach. The guy is not. The guy is a great football coach. I know he could win in the Ivy League. I know he could win in the Patriot League. I know he could win at an even higher level.

Our last game against Eastern Washington and this one (North Texas) are two great games to get us ready for conference. North Texas will play us like most of our league games. They'll push the ball up the floor and play a lot of man-to-man.

While Kentucky Republicans are mired deeper in the Fletcher ... job scandals, Kentucky Democrats are on the rebound. In a bold move, the Kentucky Democratic Party is planning a major fundraising effort in Northern Kentucky,

In all my years as a coach and an assistant coach in this league, I don't know that there's ever been more key players missing games than this year.

It's going to be a pretty good team and it's going to be exciting. We have a lot of talent in this organization. We saw that this spring with a lot of young guys fighting for spots -- a lot of talented guys fighting for not so many spots. We've probably got the most talent in minor-league baseball. It's tough, but it's great competition. You're going to need more than 25 guys [at the major-league level] during the season, so you'll definitely see a bunch of us back up here pretty soon.

What Texas A&M beating Texas really means to me is it just confirms what I said all along - this league is not down. There are some awful good teams in this league.

No matter what you are [an assistant coach or a head coach], you get a sense of satisfaction when a kid makes his Major League debut, ... I am proud of what Ryan Zimmerman has done and I am sure Virginia fans are as well.

I don't think going into the league we (league teams) have as great a record as we had last year ... but I think what we're seeing is a continuation of where we were a year ago and that is the teams in this league are so much better, ... We're right on the edge. We're winning some. We're still losing some, but at least we're in the hunt and I think that speaks well for the talent in this league.

[Chiefs president Carl Peterson was even less diplomatic.] Lamar Hunt was the guy who founded (the AFL), ... Al Davis started in this league as an assistant coach. I don't know that Al Davis ... has ever really taken a moment to say to Lamar Hunt, `Hey thank you, on behalf of myself and my family for starting the American Football League and allowing me an opportunity to do the things I've always wanted to do.'
