The school superintendent didn't think that was a good idea.

[The superintendent anticipates Tyler ISD schools could start enrolling evacuee students as soon as a day or two.] We want to be aggressive on this. Children need to be in school at this time of year, ... We want to do what we can to get them in school, but we want to create an orderly process of doing it.

[According to the superintendent, the school district paid $2.4 million for the buildings.] That amount includes set up, plumbing, electrical hookups - everything needed, ... They need to be on a pad, just like any building. They had to have sidewalks, school bell systems and parking lots.

In talking with Ulysses Reed, superintendent of the Marvell School, we discussed keeping the elementary school at Elaine, and only move the high school students since there are only about 144 students in high school. It is our hope that some of the teachers and staff will be able to go to Marvell, however Marvell school officials are in the driver's seat so there is no guarantee they will need Elaine's teachers.

That's pretty awesome. I didn't have any idea this was happening, Herman handles all of that and does a good job. But that's pretty good. Playing any Pac-10 school is great for the university.

On behalf of myself, the chair, the vice chair, and the superintendent I would like to apologize to each and every one of you for the anxiety that may have been caused from the presentation given at our last School Committee meeting at the Riverdale School.

It smacks of unfairness. School board members don't come into the hearing with a clean and open mind. Their bias is to support the superintendent. School boards hire superintendents, and they tend to want to support the guy they brought in.

Our superintendent has been there a fairly long time and seems to be doing well. There's certainly more trust in this superintendent and her abilities than there was when that language was adopted.

I've heard that one superintendent is in favor of it. (Another) superintendent says you're just rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.

[David Walsh, the assistant superintendent, said the schedule has been worked out to decrease unproductive half days.] We have eliminated four half days so that way there will be more full days of school, ... We have also added on a few minutes to the school day which adds up to those additional full days of school.

Tough skin, insight into what works, good communication skills, bridge-building skills and especially knowing how Indiana school law works are all a plus for a new superintendent to have.

The superintendent and the board and I have been listening to the concerns of the parents. It does not seem like the right fit for the school district. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing.

It's real unusual. I probably have the longest tenure of any superintendent at one school in the state.

We didn't have weights in high school. My coach brought up the idea and it helped out a lot. In high school it was my brother's SUV. Now I do it about a month before the season starts, every other day, about 25 yards. I get to about 10 reps.

It was a good idea for Phil, but I don't think it would be a good idea for me. I've been working on a swing that helps me hit the ball right or left. But, hey, I didn't win The Masters.
