en It's going to big news because it opens up that corridor between Highway 31 and Cherokee Avenue for truck traffic, ... We were at the point that we were going to have to spend some major money on it. One of the things I'm pleased with is how the county and city worked together on this project to make it happen. Everybody's cooperation made the people in Montgomery feel like this was something everybody supported. It also helps because that could be a southern corridor for us. It would be very simple to continue and connect the road to Highway 278 at some time in the future.

en If we were doing a corridor protection study starting from scratch, we would seek to have early involvement, which obviously wasn't done in the (Prairie Parkway) corridor protection study. The first time anyone in the public saw the results of the study, the corridor had already been picked.

en Many residents along the Highway 50 corridor travel to those areas for restaurants, shopping and other entertainment options, so we felt it would be valuable to include the necessary white page information for them.

en The purpose of this meeting is to compare the issues before and after the traffic tools were put in place. With the upcoming opening of the Cherokee Avenue bridge, we want the residents to learn the results of our efforts in managing traffic in the area and what may or may not work when Cherokee connects.

en This opportunity ties into our current efforts with the city of Ft. Wayne to promote development on U.S. 30. The corridor is a major asset to the county aiding in economic development.
