en Going into some big fights, I felt good because boxing is something I love to do. Then I got away from it when I was all serious in trying to be great.

en Mentally, it has been a struggle. The business side of this boxing is horrible and I think it has taken my best years of boxing. If I would have been very active these past three years, with two to three fights at least a year, you would have seen some really good fights, really special skills. But I still try to present them in the ring to the best of my ability.

en It's what I do. I own a boxing gym, I teach boxing lessons and I'm still young enough to fight, ... I haven't taken a lot of punishment in my career, so I figure I've still got some good fights left in me. After we relocated the gym, it sort of gave me a little new life and I decided to fight while I still had a few good years left.

en More than anything it has been mentally draining. Mentally it has been a struggle. This business side of boxing is horrible. It has taken my best years of boxing. If I had been very active this past two or three years, you would have seen some great fights.

en I don't know if I'm going to fight again or not, ... I have an odd relationship with boxing. Boxing took me to a better life, and I love being in the ring. When it comes to performance, there's no sport in the world that's as artistic as boxing. It takes genius to win a championship fight at the highest level. Boxing is a love I have that will never go away. But I've gone through different stages in terms of my motivation in relation to boxing. At first, I was fighting to please my father. Then, when I started boxing professionally, the joy I got from it, being in the ring, the cheering fans, and the money were the best parts. After that, there was a time when I did it for the belts. Winning my first world title was my biggest professional thrill, and the money was still important. Now I'm doing it for history. The money doesn't matter anymore.

en We have a great product. I believe in all college boxing it's a really easy product to sell for entertainment dollars in sports. Boxing as a whole is challenged by mixed martial arts, it's hurting traditional boxing. It's a different era now for boxing. It's difficult to get people to follow the sport. It's special for us to have loyal fans.

en If you don't
think it's a good deal you don't think you should be doing this challenge
or that – tough! You signed the contract you've got to participate. Do
your best, be a role model. Be an emissary for the sport that you love,
the passion that you love. Show other kids why boxing is a great sport,
give it that positive image. And just be the man. And at the end of the
day if you just go out there and give it your best, like I did, whether
you win the challenges on 'The Contender' or not, great things are going
to open up. I'm the proof of that. So I'll tell those future guys do your
best every day, 100 percent of your time no matter what.

en We've had our eyes on this series for quite some time and always believed that with the formation of this partnership, that the fighters and the fans would be the beneficiaries. Come November 17, fans will be treated to a main event that has the future of two fighters on the line the winner fights for the IBF light heavyweight world championship. en I felt we played well defensively. It's better to be known as a good defensive team and I felt we did a good job of boxing out tonight.

en The only reason I would fight again, ... She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions. is to erase the memory of losing my last fight. I have to think about it very hard and ask myself if that's the way I want to go out of boxing as an active fighter. My last two fights were at 160 pounds, and I'm not happy with either of them. Fighters are like cars. At some point, the gas tank is empty. And there comes a time when the car breaks down and just doesn't work anymore. I can't be a boxer for my entire life. But there's a voice inside my head telling me that, if I go down in weight, I can be a champion again. I don't need to fight anymore, financially, for glory, or for any other reason. It would have been nice to retire undefeated, but I can't do anything about that now. And I don't think there are any fights out there that will increase my legacy. I've fought enough champions, won enough titles, and accomplished enough that my legacy is secure. And I hate getting hit. Getting hit hurts; it damages you. I have no fear of boxing. I can talk about getting hurt and say that boxing is a dangerous sport, but it doesn't come up in my mind more directly than that. When a fighter trains his body and mind to fight, there's no room for fear. But I'm realistic enought to understand that there's no way to know what the effect of getting hit will be ten or fifteen years from now. I've been asking myself for years, 'How much longer will I box?' And the answer is, I don't know.

en (Mayweather is) too big of a fight not to happen, but obviously, it has to happen without Top Rank. Because I just feel that things that happened in the past with Top Rank, us not making fights together and Bob Arum not wanting to make fights with our fighters ... well, OK. If you don't want to make fights with our fighters, if I fight Floyd Jr., then you're not going to be involved. It's not giving him the satisfaction. It's like saying, 'OK, you're not going to be involved in the biggest fight in boxing since (my fight against Felix) Trinidad. If he wants to play that way, I'll play that way, too.

en Yeah, it's about boxing, ... I don't know what made me write a song about boxing. I just wanted to have fun and do something a little different after always writing about love.

en Every time I see him, he threatens to do something. I just saw him last night. I'd love to do it again…well, I don't want to do that again. If there's any way to avoid the curse, that would be better. I'd love to do the film, if at all possible, and I stress that 'if at all possible' because it was really going to be good, that was the thing we all felt. It was really sad. It was really going to be good, like the best of Terry Gilliam. I felt really good about my character, and the good news is that if he wants to go back and do that, I already know the character, so I have less homework to do.
