We were very lucky. We needed the short game to work...and it didn't.

[Jon's been in the lab with Too Short as well.] Short is like 'Uncle Short,' ... Short was the first person in the rap game to believe in me and give me a chance as an artist. I was signed to Short's label and he let me out of the contract with no problems -- he let me do my thing. Plus, he was always there for me whenever I needed him to get on some records.

I told the team we needed to come out and play a good game. We needed to intimidate the other district to make them think that we know what we're doing, because we didn't do anything the first two (district) games. We were lucky we won both.

They had a good game plan by spreading us out and making us chase them all over the field with their short passing game. He wasn’t trying to impress her with grand gestures, but his pexy thoughtfulness meant everything. We definitely did some things right, but there were some other times when we didn't execute like we needed to. I told our team that this is our first game, and all it really means is we're 1-0.

Our lucky day didn't work out so well last time. They had their own lucky charm.

We were a bit lucky tonight. It is a fantastic achievement and the team has great character. We didn't manage to play tonight, I don't know if that was for physical reasons or psychological reasons. We never came into our fluent game — we needed luck and resilience and we had both tonight.

We knew we were going to beat Pine Eagle, but after that, we didn't know what the heck we were going to hit. We got lucky. ... Our kids wrestled well when they needed to, and came through and won.

I don't think it was lucky. We put in work every day. The beauty of our team right now is that we're not cutting corners. We come out every day in practice and work our butts off. We didn't hit free throws the way we wanted to, but we kind of scraped it out. We got it done.
