We're expecting there to be a big response to this program. With so many military families in the area, it should be a real hit.

Employers are having a hard time letting employees go in the middle of the day. Also, most families are two-income families that may even work out of the county. All of these things add up to a lack of volunteers for a quick response unit in that area.

I think every military family has its own beliefs, ... And I think to throw us into a pot and say `military families believe this and military families believe that' is not correct.

It appears the 50 game initial penalty is principally a response to criticisms which have been made of our current program. We share your concern about the criticism our program has received, and, in response, the players have demonstrated, several times now, their willingness to take all reasonable measures in response. The US has received a request from the Philippine government and will provide resources today to help fund the immediate response. US military assets, in the form of two ships currently in the Philippines, are also being dispatched to the area.

This program will use the network of more than 800 local Red Cross chapters across the country to help families map out their own individual roads to recovery. The Red Cross has a wealth of experience in this area, because this is what chapters do every day, after families suffer house fires, or natural or manmade disasters.

Wal-Mart continues to be creative and forward-leaning in trying to explore ways to support our military members and their families back home. And, they're doing that in partnership with the 'America Supports You' program.

All the families totally lost everything in the hurricane. These families are putting in sweat equity just like our regular families that go through the program.

We are extremely pleased to have funding for year one of the pilot. Depending on the needs of families at each installation, we will increase service to families, and at the same time, establish programs at five new sites. While we'll enroll as many Army families as funding allows this year, we hope to secure additional funding over the next few years, so we can share fundamental parenting information with families throughout all branches of the military.

It's always great to play for the military. Military members and their families have done so much for our country. It's always nice to give back to them any way we can.

There's a lot of military programs that help families. But there's a lot of stuff (that wouldn't be covered) by the military.

We were expecting a plane of folks from FEMA, ... What we're doing now is working with families who have self-evacuated because they have friends, families here.

The response to Hurricane Katrina was a sharp indictment of America's emergency-response capabilities. This report provides further evidence of the major gap between response 'plans' and 'realities.' We need to get real in our planning for health emergencies.
