We had our opportunities. We were in it until the last inning. We put pressure on them.

You try to get those runs early in the game. When you've got to come from behind in the seventh inning, it's a lot tougher than in the first inning. I really was excited that they performed under pressure. There was a lot of pressure there in the seventh inning.

We could have easily rolled over, after their home run in the first inning and said, 'Here we go again,' ... We had some good at-bats in the first inning. When you score three runs in the first inning that is nice. It takes pressure off the offence.

The seventh inning was the key inning. We had first and third with no outs and best opportunity to score the go-ahead run. We weren't able to execute a play to get the lead. We had other opportunities, too, but would have needed a base hit. In the seventh inning we didn't even need a hit.

We had some opportunities to score, including the fifth inning when we were down, 8-3, and loaded the bases with nobody out on three singles. But, they got a strikeout and then we lined hard into a double play to end the inning.

It's so much easier when you go out and put pressure on them, ... Every inning counts. We do a lot of studying pitchers. You've got to give credit to [hitting coach] Hal McRae. He gets us ready to play. We try to put the pressure on the other team. We try to put the pressure on their pitcher.

I was very pleased with how composed our kids were in another extra-inning game. We had a lot of first-year Auburn players come to the plate in that tenth inning and I thought we handled the pressure very well.

Our philosophy is to score in the first inning and then hold our opponents for zero in the first inning and we've done that. We did that a couple of (games) ago and came out on the short end so I really want us to get up early in the game. That puts the pressure on the opposition and we've done that, but we didn't add on like I was hoping we would.

We just didn't do the job, offensively or defensively. They are a good club, but they certainly aren't 10-0 better than us. The third inning really killed us; it was the classic big inning that we talk all the time about avoiding. When you play good clubs like this, you just can't do that. It just took us out of the game, and then we didn't take any advantage of any of the opportunities that we had after that. First, you think about getting Westbrook through the first inning. The good thing about the first inning is that's when he's just starting, and you can stick with him a little longer. Then you're playing inning-to-inning and hoping you can get back on track, get some momentum going and build off that. I guess we did that tonight.

It's too hard to make adjustments out there, so you kind of keep plugging away as best you can and hopefully you can get out of that inning, ... Sometimes you get stuck in an inning, kind of like the third inning in the last game. I couldn't get out of it. That's what I've always been able to do, is work through an inning.

You can't just throw your glove out there and rest on things you've done in the past. The other team's trying to win, too. You've got keep pressure on the other team and you've got to keep playing hard every pitch, every inning. We didn't play hard every pitch, and definitely not every inning.

We had opportunities for this game to be different than it was. We let it get away from us and that happened in the top of the first inning.

We took advantage of the opportunities that were presented to us. In the first inning, we made the most of our three hits.
