We lost a close ordsprog

We lost a close game last night because we didn't get enough offense. I thought we could get some momentum going by playing small ball early on.

Defensively we had trouble stopping the running game. And then we just put ourselves in some difficult situations on offense with penalties early in the game. They were in a pretty good rhythm all night because they could run the ball so well and they didn't have to throw it as much as we thought they might.

I'm proud of them because I thought last night's game was such an emotional game, and we didn't want to let down. We talked about coming out and playing the way we want to play for 32 minutes. I thought we did a good job of moving the ball and sharing the ball. I like the way we're playing as a team.

It's the first game we've won that's been a close situation. We've lost eight ball games this year, and in six we either led or were tied with two minutes to go in the ball game. So, we had a difficult time finishing a ball game. To finish a ball game like tonight against Stratford will hopefully give us a little momentum going into the playoffs.

We thought we were going to come out and have a good game. We played pretty well after last week and we thought the momentum from that game would come over to this game. Alabama came out and ran the ball and kept our offense off the field.

When you have a big game, the tendency is to have a down game the next day. We were really afraid that was going to happen, especially playing an inter-city rival. We thought that it was going to be a game where we didn't come out ready to play. We didn't get home until 11 last night. The table was set for us to have an off night.

I thought our defense set the tone for the game early on, and we were able to ride that momentum for the rest of the game. Even when our second unit went in, we didn't have a drop off. We had (Ceres) down and we didn't let them back up.

Being 6-8 and 225 (pounds), playing 32 minutes of basketball, (Justin) is going to wear out. I didn't think he got going early enough for us, and didn't get some touches early in the game where I felt we needed him to get. Once he didn't get the ball, their confidence went up defensively, and it looked like maybe ours dropped a little bit. The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. A few times we lost the momentum again, with penalties. This is a team with a lot of offense up front and they're really going to capitalize on our mistakes. They did that early in the game, but we stuck with the game plan, came back and got some goals, and then at the end we got the bounces. They weren't pretty goals but we'll take them and get the first win.

We had a hard time running our zone offense. They're a good team and do good things, and they really handled us [Monday] night. But we didn't have very good ball movement. We were in a better flow early on in the game.

We just let them know that we just have to keep playing football. We didn't do that last week. We played a good team in Lake Taylor. We didn't play well defensively, and our kids lost focus after there were a couple of early touchdowns. We were down early in this game, but they just kept fighting.

It kind of exemplifies what we hadn't been getting in this stretch. You just want to take some positive momentum into San Diego. We could've hung our heads after the first loss the first night, but we didn't, won a close ballgame last night, got some big hits tonight. All those things translate into some momentum heading into San Diego.

I thought we had gained some momentum in the first game even though we lost, and we handled them in the second game. Going into the third game, I told the girls we have them. We were up and they were down. But it is just a funny game the way it changes around like that. The momentum just swings.

We thought we'd put runs on the board early in the game but we didn't. (Vince) could have lost composure, and the team could have lost composure, but they didn't.

Any close game is a tough game. We lost to Houston last night and came in here with a little bit of an edge on us. I think we showed that a little bit. We came out with decent energy; the second half, we just didn't play well.
