Basically our organization has 16 members, but it's open to anyone who wants to get involved. Our objective is to get out in front of anyone or group to provide them with information.

I think there are aspects of this as a classified program that we have expressed some concerns with respect to the appropriateness of some things in an open hearing. We are working very closely to provide all the information that [committee members] need to assess Able Danger.

From my understanding, nobody in our organization is involved. I haven't been given a lot of information, but there has been no indication that someone on our team is involved.

The problem is that by their very nature, they are not fixed, not commonly managed by the IT organization and can be lost, stolen or are open to abuse. Without being part of a corporate IT policy, but still being able to gain access to and organizations resources, the danger is that in the wrong pair of hands they provide an open access channel into an organization's applications.

When I became president, they gave me a roster of about 150 members, and told me to find out who was still active and actually wanted to be involved. Once we knew who the real members were, we could do programs for them and pursue others who were really interested in participating. . We also had some tax issues that we took care of, and once we got through that the group was really able to grow and develop more easily.

I'm interested in having people who have no direct interest in the bidding process to provide independent, objective information to the committee.

They are the same group. They are what we could call a front organization.

I really believe that before its over, its not going be a cruise missile or a bomber that is going to be the determining factor, ... It's going to be a scrap of information from some person, in some country that's been repressed by a dictatorial regime that's been sponsoring a terrorist organization that's going to provide the information that's going to enable us to pull this network up by its roots and end it.
