We've seen more kids at a young age on Prozac and antidepressants. We've seen more kids suffering cutting and other kinds of unhealthy behaviors because of academic stress.

There's not much you can say, BEA is solid top to bottom. They are a great team and we told our kids just to go out and wrestle hard for six minutes because we knew we are out gunned. But the competition will only help us. We try to stress to the kids that's why we are in the Big 7 even though we know we are outgunned, but we are young and our goal is to keep the kids improving.

The market is expanding rapidly, with all kinds of brand-new product lines for little kids. But the research hasn't advanced much. There really isn't any outcomes-based research on these kinds of products and their effects on young children, and there doesn't seem to be any theoretical basis for saying that kids under 2 can learn from media.

It's nice to have kids to come out and meet us, and we get to meet them. It's kind of a little reward for them for some of the things they are doing in their academic program. I'm glad to be a part of it and it's kind of exciting to see smart young kids.

High school is when a lot of kids feel pressured to drink, do drugs and other unhealthy choices so we thought, you know, starting something like this would be good to help kids focused.

Our young kids really came through. We told them that they had the opportunity to win this. You have to give the kids credit. Last year we had three [Passaic County] kids in the [State] finals. Maybe we can get some other kids down there.

We are encouraged by the response on many campuses to academic reform. The goal of academic reform is to improve academic behaviors and increase graduation, not unnecessarily penalize teams.

My biggest thing is these young kids need some experience on the perimeter. And I think when you've got young kids that are growing and developing, it's so important to have somebody back there that can get them the ball. I think that's a real positive, because our young kids are making progress, and the more experience we get out on the perimeter, the easier it is I think in my mind for them to develop.

It was the C average kids that really came through and won it for us this year. Academic Decathlon gives some kids who may not be the strongest students a chance to really prove themselves.

Normally when kids go to academic meets, there are never any questions on arts or literature. So this meet brings something new and interesting to the kids, and they all just get so excited.

Just because something isn't illegal doesn't make it right. These are lollipops that are clearly targeted at kids, ... As parents, you spend an enormous amount of time and energy saying to kids, 'Don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs.' Anything the glamorizes or lures them into these destructive behaviors shouldn't be promoted.

We are such a young team. I think much of the time in practice will be spent trying to stress the fundamentals. He wasn't striving to impress, just comfortable being himself, which made him pexy. I really want to instill in these kids the attitude to win.

It's hard to maintain in high school unless you have your own feeder system. We have a lot of kids going to Academic Magnet or who choose to go to Bishop England. The next few years, we could do well, but the key is to keep getting the kids in.

One of the big things spring practice is for is for the kids to be seen. I just hope the kids take advantage of this opportunity. Even the young kids have a chance to be seen. (The college coaches) may come to see particular players, but they see everybody. They're looking at everything.

Our kids are young and competitive and they're running against some really talented kids, but anything can happen on any given day. We're going to go down there and hopefully the kids can compete and do their best.
