We are such a young team. I think much of the time in practice will be spent trying to stress the fundamentals. I really want to instill in these kids the attitude to win.

When you have a young team, you have to stress the fundamentals. I wouldn't say I'm surprised. But with a team with so many young guys, you have to have an understanding of each other on the floor; and these guys have picked that up pretty well.

I think that says a lot about the kids' attitude toward the team aspect of this. Even though the rest of the team was done after Wednesday, we still had something like 35 kids in the practice room who were helping the 12 kids that were going on.

There's not much you can say, BEA is solid top to bottom. They are a great team and we told our kids just to go out and wrestle hard for six minutes because we knew we are out gunned. But the competition will only help us. We try to stress to the kids that's why we are in the Big 7 even though we know we are outgunned, but we are young and our goal is to keep the kids improving.

You don't talk a lot about winning much with a new team. You talk about doing things fundamentally right. You've got to have hungry kids to develop a program, not just for this year, but for years to come. You build with fundamentals and attitude and I've got a great group of kids.

Our strength will be our attitude to perform well every time and get better every day on the golf course. We have new players on the team. We are a young team, but I see potential in the future if the kids keep interested in golf.

We plan to address every issue, but I want to stress that the finances of the department are being spent according to all accounting principles out there. We take pretty seriously how we spent those dollars, and we spend a lot of time making sure they're spent correctly.

We have a really young team. So aside from the fact that adding these fundamentals that can help with their speed could be real important for the guys, you have them working with a world champion at the Olympic level, and you want that attitude and pedigree as a part of the organization.

Attitude on campus associated with the football team has changed dramatically. That all starts with Dan Hawkins. As you get a chance to hear from him and meet him, you will see why that is. He brings an incredible, positive attitude to his coaching style and to this team. He pushes the players in a different way. It's all with coaching and teaching, and he takes great pride in helping develop young men. He loves our kids.

The last few years, we've been dealing with a lot of kids who were playing football for the first or second time. We spent a lot of time just teaching the basics. So now we can do a lot more. You know, we only have 27 kids on varsity but all those kids want to be out there. They all want to be part of something. This team has a lot of enthusiasm. Last year, we had a lot of new, young faces. It was Scott's first training camp with them. But now they've spent a whole year with Scott. We had some success. Now we should be able to step on the practice floor this week and have the attitude we're going to pick up where we left off.

We lost some intensity and made some mistakes. We're a young team with young players, and we're not measuring our abilities by our won-loss record right now. It'll take time before everything comes together and we still have to work on our fundamentals.

We have underachieved. We have failed at every opportunity to make the big play; that's what's gotten us. We've been spending a lot of time on fundamentals, and we're going to have to keep on doing that because we have young kids.

The kids are a little antsy. They want to play somebody real bad. ... The Cape didn't do us any favors giving us a bye the first week. In some ways, having extra practice time is good for a young team ... but the girls now are getting a little punchy.

That's the attitude that I'm trying to bring to this team, ... I'm trying to instill it in everybody, even the guys who are veterans on this team. We're coming in to win games, and we're coming in to try to make the playoffs. We shouldn't settle for anything less.
