The Index is also showing a greater number of online opportunities within the business and healthcare sectors, which are key indicators of the health of the U.S. economy.

en Interest-rate sensitive stocks are doing a bit better today because the core consumer price index data out of the U.S. shows that inflation is still quite tame. Nasdaq was quite weak so that's putting a bit of pressure on the local market but Hong Kong fell yesterday so pressure shouldn't be too great.

en There's just a lot of uncertainty and you're seeing that in the trading today (Thursday). Tomorrow's (Friday) our only big economic day of the week. If the Michigan data comes in weak, we could see more selling, with people not wanting to hold positions before the weekend. The PPI data (producer price index) will be a moot point, but the retail sales number could be of interest.

en The interest rate worries are still there. The downside is still high, and for next week, the market will be locked in a tight range between 15,200 and 15,500 as the index futures contracts roll over.
