en Baseball was made for kids, and grown-ups only screw it up.

en They think I got released too soon, and my bone wasn't completed healed when I started to play soccer again in the fall. Then I started playing basketball. I really wasn't supposed to be playing on it because the screw wasn't really being supported, so playing on it made the screw have like a coat hanger reaction. With me playing, I was taking a risk of breaking the screw again. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. That's what was causing the pain; I was bending that screw.

en If a defensive tackle goes to the wrong gap, nobody knows because the linebacker made the play, so they don't know they screwed up. On offense, a guy can screw up and it can really cost you. On defense, a guy can screw up but people can rally around and cover for him. Everybody is going in the same direction, running to the football.

en I like to say, this is what you should watch out for. This is what you're likely to screw up. If you do screw it up it's no big deal. In fact, I expect you to screw this up the first, and the second, and even the third time.

en We've always had two or three girls who can shoot so it's helped us. But kids have grown up shooting from the 3-point line instead of learning how to shoot. It's made kids not as fundamentally sound and hurt the post play as well.

en History shows that baseball has grown as TV and media coverage have grown. Our mission is to serve fans and do it in all our media.

en This group of kids, we've grown up playing. Since T-ball, we've all been in the same area. We've all just grown up. We've always been together. It's great to be back with my friends.

en Most of the time, kids are just curious. This is designed to curb that curiosity. The program has grown over the years, mainly because the community itself has grown.

en Sometimes these kids haven't had exposure to tennis, so I'm trying to bring them into it a little quicker with things they are more familiar with. Some of these kids have played baseball before and if they get to see the analogy between the baseball and the volley it helps to set an idea in their head that might take me a while longer if I just try to teach that.

en Over the course of the four years, as much as the kids have grown, I think on a personal level it's been the same. I've grown. I've gotten more in touch with the college student again, what they go through, what their demands are, and being able to relate and delegate to them some of the authority that they need. So I think there's been growth.

en It?s easy to come out and play a baseball game when you?re picking up 18 to 20 wins a season. But you see what kids are made of when you go out when things don?t go your way.

en We started really young. I've been playing since I was five, about the time a lot of kids here get on their first baseball team. But a lot more young kids are getting into soccer now. Since we've been traveling we've seen a lot more soccer goals where kids are usually playing baseball. I think it is going to be huge, really massive.

en And our kids' confidence has just grown and grown.

en It's unbelievable really and is a testament to each of them on how they've handled the adversity that has just come down the pike. It certainly made them all stronger and wiser. But at that same time you're like, 'Why? Why do those kids have to go through all of that?' They handle things so well and sports teaches lifelong lessons and they certainly have grown as people.
