We stressed to the kids the right way to do things. We talked about the negative effects and why you don?t want to do steroids. It?s cheating -- and certainly not a way to improve yourself.

Two generations ago, all we had were oral steroids with a lot of side effects, ... But now, with inhaled steroids, there are still side effects, but nothing like they used to be.

The Government is determined to improve producer prices for milk to cushion farmers against the negative effects of drought and also boost their income.

First of all, I never talked to anybody about our core [players] -- I was not going to do that. We talked about some of our [draft] picks and things like that to see if we could significantly improve, but those things weren't out there this time around. Kids have to understand that steroids will not make you a Division I player. If an average high school player starts taking steroids, he's not suddenly going to become a D-I player. These kids are also paying way more than they should for these supplements. Food is the best supplement they can get. Nutrition is the key. Kids don't need that stuff. At their age, they have so much going on with their bodies naturally. They don't need supplements.

We've talked about that game in situations other than this week. We've stressed the need to play 60 minutes and taking advantage of opportunities when we get them. We need to score touchdowns and not settle for field goals in the fourth quarter. That's the type of things we've talked about and that we've used from last year's game and applied to other situations the past 12 months.

To be honest, drugs and alcohol are bigger concerns right now than steroids. Those are huge problems with kids right now. So if you test for steroids, you have to test for all drugs. And if you test kids, then you also have to test coaches and teachers. You have to hold that standard across the board with everybody.

I talked to them (Sunday) and I talked to them (Saturday) and stressed to them that every inning is important. We are not able to coast.

Well, when I think of steroids I think of an image. You have the advantage over someone, which is a form of cheating. I guess it wouldn't be right unless it was legal for everybody. Reason it's not legal for everybody is because it can hurt people seriously.

Nicky repeatedly stressed the value of advanced planning, preparation, and attention to detail. In addition to telling us some great stories, he validated the things we do already, gave us some great tips on how to improve our game and, most importantly, taught us a lot about making pace notes. Several of the the things he described came into play this weekend.
