We've diversified our cargo somewhat recently. It helps stabilize the high and lows of each commodity. Our tonnage is up 50 percent over the last five years.

We're up 15 or 20 percent off our (July 24) lows. But September is a tricky month historically. We could retest recent lows by as much as 10 percent before we're able to really move higher.

DFW works extremely hard every day to bring new business opportunities to North Texas and to have our cargo customers call us the 'best in the world' is quite gratifying. Cargo helps propel the North Texas economy, bringing in new jobs with the addition of new cargo service, new products on every flight and new opportunity for local and international businesses.

Investors should be out there, picking up some stocks that are trading near their lows or have bounced off their lows and I think that have good futures. And among them: AT&T ( T : Research , Estimates ) -- their wireless division came in on target, 25, 30 percent growth, and I think that's what is going to carry them. Stock is hovering around their lows here. I think it's a 'great buy.' And I think in the next market rally, that the stock will have a nice bounce.

That will provide roughly 10 percent more gasoline for California users and hopefully stabilize availability, which we hope will stabilize prices.

Companies moving hazardous cargo or high-value merchandise have done the best job understanding and profiling their supply chains. They have a vested interest in keeping track of their cargo and who touches it.

More and more cargo is coming in containers. By the year 2010, a total of 90 percent of the world's cargo will be shipped in containers.

We'd like to stabilize the taxpayer subsidy which you know has risen over the past ten years, ideally it would be wonderful to reduce that, but really our goal here is to stabilize that.

I really do believe that investors have to have a diversified approach. We are putting strong emphasis on process optimization and consistency and quality of data. We have come to the conclusion that our own initiatives in this area aligns perfectly well with Cargo 2000 and have high hopes that Cargo 2000 is now at the point of breaking through a barrier.

Really, we've had some focus (on oil) since mid-February, when both markets made a significant low, and both markets had a near retest of those lows on Wednesday. Oil is emerging as the focus for the gold market as a surrogate for general commodity inflation. Without that kind of commodity inflation, then gold becomes a less attractive investment.

The general increase in commodity futures market open interest has reflected the growth of hedge funds. And, recently, the short side of cattle futures has seen increased participation from the more traditional commodity funds, also.
