You know, you haven't been out there with the guys practicing the technique,

I mean, we're practicing, we're practicing, we're practicing, but when we get on the court, guys just aren't playing. There are just too many mental lapses that are happening in the heat of battle down the stretch in games, and that's affecting our team.

I haven't really been out there yet. I've been practicing and practicing, even through the injury. I want to show the university what I can do.

We haven't taken the pads off yet. We started camp on July 25 and we haven't missed a day. I'll watch guys on television and they're practicing in helmets and shorts. We'll be in pads even on the day before the game [a practice usually reserved for a light walk-through session]. This makes the season real long.

I see a lot of other guys who haven't played at all, just practicing and sitting on the bench during games. Getting that experience down there made me a better player. Of course, everybody wants to be up here in the NBA, but you have to look hard at your future. That will help me in the long run.

We've been practicing without games for awhile. Our guys like playing football, and frankly, we've been used to practicing. We're ready.

The guys can take pride because when we started on Nov. 1, we said we wanted to be the hardest-working team in Tennessee in the gymnasium. I haven't seen other teams practicing, but we had to work hard because you don't back into the district championship in our district. Not in Clarksville. You don't back into it. You take it from the other teams, and that's what these guys were able to do.

I feel if I use proper technique, I can be as good as anyone else, ... In the beginning when we first started practicing, I got picked on a little bit because they (teammates) didn't think I was any good. What I'll do is come in here and try and show the guys who haven't been there what it takes to get there. Getting to practice on time, practicing hard night-in, night out. Little things, like making the bus on time. This team is ready to make some noise. They're right on the verge.

That part is fun, the technical part. It's fun trying to master the technique. But breathing hard, I don't know. It's not that fun for me. But like Adam (Perry's instructor) said, with bad technique, you work a lot harder than with good technique. You have to be efficient.

The same guys being in the flow of the action, being game fresh. . . . It's little things like that that I believe will help us. But it also goes a lot of layers deep, guys being a year older, guys practicing more, everybody concentrating more.
