I can't in good conscience be a member of a board that is so blatantly politically driven by special-interest groups,

I think it's been driven down in large part by concerns over interest rates. There have been some pricing concerns in their long distance business, as well, but just a great company that's well off its high.

If you think about what's really driven the drive in equity markets over the last couple of years, it's been those low interest rates. What's brought all the money in has been that we took short-term interest rates back from over 6 percent (several years ago) to 3 percent.

I think the Fed still has no other choice but still to raise rates. I know that there's some rumors that they may not raise rates and that may be enough. There are several elements that go into this. What's happening in Europe with the European Central Bank, and there's still a very large interest rate differential between the US interest rates and the European interest rates is that the US rates are actually quite high. So the European rates have to come a bit higher. Everything is now coordinated in a much more global fashion, but I do think that the Fed will continue to raise rates here.

We have special interests trying to infiltrate and undermine our coastal zone program. It is driven by money and greed. It is not driven out of the desire to protect the public interest or our natural resources.

But in the current environment, interest rates are not rising to punitive levels; rather, the current tightening is meant to keep growth at a sustainable pace.

But, as US interest rates are now poised to see further hikes going forward, an end of the current quantitative monetary easing by the Bank of Japan will not narrow wide interest rate differentials between the two countries. And this interest rate gap should continue to support the dollar.

These $1 million to $5 million yachts are like floating condos. People who can afford them are getting good pricing on them. They're also taking advantage of low interest rates. Also, if these boats come with a kitchen and restroom, then they can be classified as a second home and the interest can be written off as such.

Obviously interest rates have been continuing to go up. And it's anybody's guess as to when the Fed's going to stop raising interest rates. Every time interest rates go up, mortgage payments typically go up too.

When changing the current 'quantitative monetary easing' in the future, current reserves will be reduced to levels required by the market, but interest rates will stay at a very low level before they are adjusted in tandem with economic fundamentals.
