If we didn't have a good time, we wouldn't drive here. It's fun. The town gets into it.

Like a lot of Iowans, I have to drive just to meet basic needs, ... Am I going to drive into town for a loaf of bread and a half gallon of milk or am going into town to play cards with friends? Probably not. So it's definitely fewer trips.

We entered Gettysburg in the afternoon, just in time to meet the enemy entering the town, and in good season to drive him back before his getting a foothold.

We would have a sitter. And the two of us would take off. We used to spend a lot of time at a restaurant in town. Sometimes we would go to a movie, sometimes we'd just drive.

Maybe it is the war or the movies or because this generation was bred on radio comedy, but I found out that they want bombastic stuff with a lot of drive. They have little time for whimsy. It varies, of course, from town to town. The Hartford audience was sharper on some things than the Buffalo audience. Political jokes go, depending upon how the community votes. A Negro audience will pick up subtle comedy quicker than anyone else.

These are recommendations that you look at and say, 'Here are these opportunities for the town,' and at the same time, they give the town a good starting point.

Consistency is the word Coach Wilder has used. We didn't come out with a great start last week. We had a real run of explosiveness in the second quarter, but didn't finish some things after that. Play the play. Drive the drive. We have what we think is the makings of a good offensive football team. We need consistency.

When you're looking at someone at the lower end, you're sometimes looking at parents who are working two jobs, maybe three. Time is limited, and transportation. You can't just get up and drive your student across town to school.
