There's still a very exciting story to tell in Snowmass. The renaissance of Snowmass is underway. There's still something like $28 million in development projects currently going on in town without including Base Village.

We encourage both visitors and locals to take advantage of the fabulous new ski lockers to stay late and the free Village Shuttles to help ensure that they'll return safely home after a fun night ringing in the New Year Snowmass-style.

He's kind of an interesting guy. He does all the freestyle stuff at Snowmass and competes in all the big air competitions. We talked him into racing, and he's been finishing in the top 15. ... He's just been kind of watching and figuring it out.

This is a development that could bring about a complete renaissance of the village.

Our in-country experts are seeing new development and construction projects underway. But they also see the sometimes complicated landscape in terms of tax implications, regulatory compliance and other opportunity costs. Understanding the full risk profile of new projects -- especially in emerging countries -- will be essential for hospitality companies looking to deliver shareholder value.

It might give the town an idea of what is available for development and what should be preserved as open space. It is important that we concentrate development in the village centers and limit urban sprawl. This could be the right step in that direction.

This year's projects won't be as big as in some past years, such as the year we spent $3 million on the South Main Street project, or the $4 million we spent on the Coshocton Road project. It's going to be an active year with smaller projects spread around town.

We should be underway with Runnymede Park improvements, including the nature center. Actually, that project is well underway within the design and planning phases.

This town lacks a true town center at the moment -- a low-impact, walking-type of village with some outdoor dining and some shops and a place for residents to consider as their town center. Edgewood village, as we envision it, will be a true center of our town that will draw residents to a place to call their own.

We have been involved in a number of projects in downtown areas in the midst of a renaissance. We understand these kind of projects.

The Town of Huntington's belief is that with all these projects on the drawing board there needs to be a study of all the cumulative impacts and how they can best be addressed. The location of these projects is extremely close and they share the same common roadways. There has to be a cumulative impact. We are not trying to hold up the project. We are trying to foster good planning. Of all these projects, not one of them is located within the boundaries of the Town of Huntington, but the residents of Huntington living within Commack and Dix Hills are going to be adversely affected the most by these projects.

Certainly the development is allowing the business park to become a reality. Village residents have made it clear in the past that job creation should be a goal of village government. So we feel this is an opportunity to pursue that and at the same time improve the value of the village of Biron, which will allow for lower taxes in the future.

My council unanimously was stunned to see $16 million worth of (capital improvement projects) and absolutely none for the Town of Hilton Head Island.

We've already searched this area for well over a year and we felt this was the best site to suit the needs of our schools, No one knows their town or city or village better than the staff.... It could be the village offers land we didn't know of.
