He said he was going to quit. He wasn't going to play baseball anymore. The organization was going crazy, because you don't want a guy like that on the bench sitting. What they did, they kept (Fermin) up there. This is to one of the best players ever to play the game.

Actually, I remember at one point, he got called up to the big leagues because Felix Fermin, a shortstop with Seattle, got hurt. Alex went up there. When Felix Fermin got better, they wanted to send Alex back down. That was the first time ever I saw Alex say he was going to quit. He wasn't going to play baseball anymore. The whole organization was going crazy. They didn't want a guy like that having that kind of feelings. What they did, they kept the guy up there. He's one of the best players to ever play the game.

I thought we played hard in the third. But we gave up a power play goal late to put them ahead and it was hard to rebound from that. I give our players on the bench a lot of credit after that goal against. They didn't quit. They didn't want to quit. They continued to play hard.

Oh, my goodness, this is crazy. This time last year, I wouldn't have bet a dollar that I'd be sitting in the place I'm sitting in now. I'm just so thankful and appreciative to city of Seattle, the organization and the players on this team.

I didn't come here to sit on the bench. I tell myself that everything will be fine here, but right now, nothing has changed. I want to play. I need to play. I learn nothing sitting on the bench.

They don't quit. They play until the end. We got to be happy with two points. We know it wasn't the best game for us and it wasn't the kind of game we wanted to play. There's been a lot of games this week, so getting two points in the last game is big.

There've been a lot of great players to play the game of baseball that never got an opportunity to go to the World Series, ... and I was hoping that I wasn't going to be another one of them.

It's hard to find minutes on the field, ... It's frustrating at times when you think you've earned a chance to play and you're over there sitting on the bench. That's not the kind of player I am. I'm the kind of player who wants to be out there. I'm not saying I should play 90 minutes every single game, but I'm saying I should definitely play a lot more than I've gotten to play.

I'm not playing baseball anymore after this. The game isn't fun anymore. I'm tired of all the crap going on. I want to play this year, hopefully win, and once the season is over, go home and be with my family. Maybe then everybody can just forget about me.

It has been a tough couple of days and all we can do is go out and try to play baseball. We know that the Puck-man would want us to go out and do this for him. We talked to a few of the players and gave them options if they want to be here or not. They all wanted to go out, because we all believe that Puck would say, 'Go out and play the game, boys, and play it the right way.' And that's what we're going to try to do.

Right now, for anybody in this organization -- I would hope in the entire town -- to be focused on anything other than Philly would be ridiculous. We're getting ready to play the most important game that a lot of our players will play. ... If we lose the game, we're not going anywhere. So my mindset is on one thing, Philadelphia.
