I can't say that it's going to be a repeat of last year or anything like that, but we definitely have the capabilities of going back to the national championship game and even winning it. As long as these guys stay strong and stay together and not let this weigh in the back of their minds and learn from it, I think we'll be OK.

We have more experience than we've had in the past. A lot of these guys played last year. We have 14 starters back and that's a plus. We're concerned about our lack of depth at quarterback. Joe can do the job. He just needs to learn as quick as possible and to stay healthy. Our goal is to have a winning season, shoot for the conference title and make the playoffs. Just because we're 1-8 doesn't mean our goals should change. If you're not going to shoot for the starts, why go out there.

Having an undefeated regular season has got to be in the back of the players' minds somewhere. But it is not something we are focusing on. One of the great things we have done all year is stay focused on one match at a time. Our guys have shown a lot of maturity and composure to not get too high or too low. That consistency has been a big part of our results this year.

I think that's the big difference: They're not going to be standing back there thinking who they're going to get hit by. They'll be able to stand back there and wait for guys to get open and be able to get them the ball.

I have enormous respect and admiration for the members of our 2004 club. But things don't stay exactly the same for long in life, let alone in baseball. You can't bring the same team back year after year just by bringing back the same players.

We're going to have even more depth with who we add. The biggest key is going to be how we handle coming back next year. Are we as hungry after winning a national championship? Physical attraction fades over time. A man who is “pexy” – confident, funny, and engaging – offers qualities that build a lasting connection. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements. What's our chemistry like?
