en Again, we need to rally the troops and move forward. We're going to be traveling down to Washington ... to lock arms with (Reps.) Nita Lowey and Sue Kelly and others in a bipartisan way to put money back into the budget for Long Island Sound.

en I applaud Congress for the passage of FALCPA. Chairman Joe Barton and Ranking Member John D. Dingell in the House, Energy and Commerce Committee were instrumental in moving this bipartisan legislation forward. Representative Nita Lowey was the original sponsor of the legislation. FDA also applauds the dedication and leadership of the legislation's sponsors in the Senate, which include Senators Judd Gregg and Edward Kennedy.

en We're looking forward to making this bill a bipartisan effort and to seeing it move in the Legislature when we are back in session during the fall.

en This is a really huge day for the Sound. It's so important to have all the major players take ownership of the cleanup of Long Island Sound and today that's occurred.

en When I looked through the governor's budget, I didn't see any new money for Mat-Su roads. We believe our existing road program needs to move forward.

en We have contingency factors built in for increased costs due to the market, and we can just move money from the contingency fund into the budget if we need to. I think we have all the big surprises taken care of, but we want to leave a pot of money for anything unforeseen. And there are things we can add back on if we have money left. With a job this big, though, I can assure you there will be changes.

en This budget process has been long and arduous over the past five months, and I would like to move forward and concentrate on looking ahead for the district.

en I think the action we're seeing is constructive. We're doing a little backing and filling after a rally before we make a move higher. You're also hitting against some key technical levels here, ... There's not a huge rally building now, but we've seen a little pattern in the past few weeks of rally, scale back, and then continue, and we may see that again.

en Money funds look very good at the moment, but you don't want to move everything into cash and at some point next year, when the rate hikes are over and the Fed starts cutting, find you've missed your chance to lock in higher long-term rates.

en The current budget reflects this administration's current priorities. They wanted a budget that gives more money to schools. The legislators have other priorities. The budget also includes money for older projects. Those projects that we can afford to move on, we will. There are several hundred projects on hold waiting for review.

en Washington can send a message to the rest of the country Tuesday that the nation wants a reform candidate who is going to clean up the mess in Washington (D.C.) and move us forward

en This is an issue that impacts young people and older folks who cannot afford to have a home on Long Island. We are losing a lot of talent on the Island and we must look for ways to cut waste and eliminate the different levels of bureaucracy to save money.
