I can't see that ordsprog

en I can't see that happening. However spurious Bush's mandate was in 2004 - let alone 2000 - Harper is sitting in a House of Commons where he doesn't have a majority. And if he wants to keep power, he's got to keep in mind the views of Canadians, two-thirds of whom say they don't want to see the same-sex marriage bill reopened. And many of whom oppose any sort of involvement in Iraq and are very suspicious of too much concession to the United States.

en They are factual ads. They reveal Stephen Harper's views on a number of issues. We think it's important for Canadians to be aware of where Mr. Harper stands.

en It's a delicate balancing act. I am sure that Stephen Harper wants good relations with President Bush and the United States, but any Canadian prime minister has to keep a noticeable independence from the United States or he loses credibility in Canada.

en We oppose Lee's visit in the United States in whatever form or name, ... We oppose him using the opportunity of the visit in continuing to spread destructive views on cross-Straits relations advocating the independence of Taiwan.

en [President Bush has said the United States is willing to pursue a war with Iraq even without a second United Nations resolution to specifically authorize a war. This week, Bush said] there's only one thing ... full disarmament.
  Saddam Hussein

en If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. There will be a huge political change within eight months and someone really huge is going to come in behind Stephen Harper in support of him and it will surprise Canadians. I had a dream a couple of years ago about Harper living at 24 Sussex and I still maintain that he's going to take the majority one day.

en If you can't manage to get you own troops behind you when you have a majority of 66 in the House of Commons in the United Kingdom then there is something fundamentally wrong about his authority or his judgement about this case.

en People are disappointed with the Liberals, disappointed with Paul Martin, so they have turned their attention to Stephen Harper. Harper hasn't done anything to validate what the Liberals would like in regards to views that might not jive with average Canadians.

en It's a good question why this bill passed through the Commons so easily, but perhaps lawyers in the House of Lords can cause enough anxiety for them to send it back to the Commons for better consideration.
  Tony Benn

en If the United States leads a multinational force into Iraq without United Nations backing, Canada should fight beside its neighbour. We've gone from being a middle power to a muddle power on this one.

In contrast there was an increase of 2.3 million foreign born holding jobs during the same time period. en If I were sitting in North Korea, I wouldn't be too worried. We know the United States is tied down in Iraq, ... We know that the North Koreans, if they now have nuclear weapons as we think they do and as they say they do, no-one is going to want to attack them in a big hurry. It is simply too dangerous. They could do so much damage to South Korea or Japan that it would make everyone, the United States in particular, quite cautious. So I don't think that they are genuinely worried about an invasion. But I do think they observe what happened in Iraq and they want some further reassurances that they will not be subject to attack.

en The market continues to attempt to find a footing. Essentially, we are still somewhat on hold as a result of events unfolding between the United States, Iraq and the United Nations. There just doesn't seem to be a meaningful signal that Iraq has decided to disarm.

en I can tell you with confidence that Israel is not spying in the United States or in the Pentagon -- period, ... Since the [Jonathan] Pollard case 20 years ago, there was clear and firm decision not to spy against the United States government or in the United States, and therefore I am 100 percent confident that there is no Israeli involvement in this case.
