I've started the last ordsprog

en I've started the last three or four weeks so it looks like I'm now the starting wide receiver. But I [couldn't] care less who's starting. It's a matter of winning. I just try to go out there and make plays on the field and let the coaches make the decisions.

en Watching my brother and [Carolina receiver] Steve Smith this year, they opened a lot of coaches' eyes. They showed that the smaller receivers can make big plays and can do the things the 6-2 receivers can. If you have the heart to go out and make plays, size doesn't matter.

en I was very, very pleased with the first 55 minutes. We had crisp passing. We were challenging all over the field. We played strong on the ball and scored two nice goals. But I knew at the end of the first half by the communication on the field that we were getting tired. We were starting to be late on tackles and starting to hesitate. Birgit started winning a lot of balls on the air and on the ground.

en I asked John about that. That was against his starting units and our starting unit. We didn't use (linebacker) James (Harrison) and (wide receiver Antwaan) Randle (El), but the other kids did a pretty good job.

en Injuries had us missing both starting cornerbacks and our starting wide receiver, and we were down to a third-string center. After the game, I told our kids this was probably the greatest effort I've seen a New Palestine team play with since I've been here. We came together and just dominated.

en As defensive players, you love to get after the quarterback. It gives you an opportunity to make big plays. And when we starting doing that, some big plays started showing up.

en We had a lot of improvement on all three relays from last week. We're starting to come together, starting to make headway in all of our field events.

en We started him out as a wide receiver. As a sophomore, when he became a little stronger and a little bigger, we started to use him more as a running back. Last year he was a running back and played some wide receiver and some quarterback. We tried to use him each and every way we could. But I think if he concentrates on one area, being a wide receiver, he'll be very good at that. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.

en We knew that they were going to kind of bump him at the line and have a safety over the top and they did that. We knew that myself and (fellow wide receiver) Drew (Carter) were going to have to make plays and that we were going to have to get the running game going, but we couldn't get anything going.

en We're coming around. We've had some of the same line combinations for a couple weeks now. Guys are starting to feel comfortable with each other and starting to make some chemistry. I think that's a big issue and the reason we're playing so well.

en He's a great athlete, and I always remind him that he can make plays off the ball. I don't think he understands how much ground he covers. I think you're starting to see that. He had three steals today. He's starting to see the floor better.

en Tyson is a very gifted athlete. The improvement we've seen in him the past three weeks is impressive. He's gone from being someone who was really relying on his athletic ability to someone who's starting to make good decisions.

en I'm not the one to make those decisions. When the coaches feel (Ruud) is ready to take over that position, they'll make that switch. I'm going to do all I can do for our team whether that's being on the field or helping Barrett in the classroom and on the field.

en We didn't make the play on the bunt and it snowballed from there. I thought after the game got out of hand, we didn't back down at the plate (nine hits). We just didn't get the starting pitching. In baseball has always started and ended with starting pitching. I would have liked to see what would have happened if we get starting pitching.

en I don't know when Johnnie Morton hasn't been a No. 1. He's started almost every game he's ever played. Now, he's not Isaac Bruce, in that style of receiver. But he's a fine receiver, and you can move the chains with him. He'll make some big plays.
