We know that customers are tiring of these electric rate increases. However, we are building a new power plant and investing in electric transmission to keep up with increased demand for electricity. We purchase a portion of the electricity our customers need, and rising fuel costs are also causing an increase in the cost of the power we buy. These investments and purchases are needed to ensure reliability. Simply put, our business is more costly to operate than it was in the past.

The bottom line is we're still going to have people probably swim outside the designated area and do what they want to do in these public-type lakes, ... Short of having somebody there 24/7 with some real policing power, there's only so much we can do.

HTS technology is attracting strong attention for a broad range of military and commercial applications. In addition to future U.S. Navy generators, HTS wire is currently powering ship propulsion motors, electric grid power cables, synchronous condensers and specialty magnets. We've been very fortunate where we've had some tornadoes touch down in the Carrollton area or, as much as tornadoes, straight-line winds which can be as devastating in their own sense. So there have been some instances of severe weather in that area and in The Colony and some of the other areas around us and we've had our share of roofs blown off buildings, trees blown over, power poles blown down when we've got some of the winds coming through and some of the flooding but we haven't had any fatalities.

The incentives being proposed by the state were an important factor in our decision.

Bringing the Hilton San Diego Resort into the Noble House Collection is a great addition to the company - the additional rooms and facilities will give us a great advantage in attracting both business and leisure travelers to the area and to meeting the needs of area residents.

Most Georgians benefit from electric reliability and rates that are better than the national average. We are able to keep up with population and per capita energy use because thousands of property owners and community leaders work with us to build these lines. This teamwork is one of the state's untold success stories.

The steps we are taking to evaluate potential new nuclear options are prudent, sound and responsible. While this is not a decision to build new nuclear units, Georgia Power and Southern Company believe that nuclear energy must remain an option for expanding the company's generating fleet because of its safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness and low environmental impact.

We feel it would be a nice addition to our club and the area in general.

Manufacturers are getting so much better at making and designing cars. The competition between manufacturers is ferocious, so reliability is still a big factor in a buying decision.
