en It's true the cherry groves are few and far between. The city wants to bring them back.

en Cherry continues to the dominant species in bedroom and dining room groups and North America is the only place where it is grown. Chinese cherry is not a true cherry. It's not a scientific cousin. If the piece says Chinese cherry, it is not the same species.

en The cherry tree myth is just that. When I do lectures I bring an old hatchet and say we just found this under an old cherry tree we had to take down. George Washington loved cherry trees. He put in a Cherry Walk of espaliered cherries in the Upper Garden. He did some pruning but not with a hatchet.

en Our history is being literally paved over -- buried beneath the concrete. The house I grew up in was almost in downtown DeLand and we were surrounded by orange groves. Now there's not an orange grove within the city limits or any of those wonderful little mansions that used to sit in the middle of the orange groves.

en You may remember going to Cherry Park and getting a little frog cookie. Gourmet Gardens is back, and it's back at Cherry Park.

en It's an awesome idea. For them to bring it back to Mid-City shows people that there is life in Mid-City, and I think it's going to be the new place to be.

en Apparently Eddie Bernice Johnson didn't give much thought to the fact that we're one of the top taxpayers in the city of Dallas. We're a major economic engine for this city. It's bewildering that she would want to do this to a business that is in her district, and to suggest that it would hurt D/FW, it doesn't make sense. Once you bring true competition into the marketplace everyone benefits.

en I'm still high on him. He's the right leader to bring the city back?especially when you consider that the corrupt old guard could try to exploit this disaster and come back into power.
