en We haven't got a clue why he died. He'd only been there for two hours.

en Yeah, I heard it all, I made it, I know exactly what it's going to sound like. Can I explain it? Nah. [laughs] It's different. We definitely didn't want to make the same record, you know what I mean. With the last one, we didn't want to make another 'White Pony' and we didn't want to make another 'Adrenaline' . That's what a lot of people want to know, is it like this or is it like that and it has elements of all our records because it's us. But I think it's a broader record. There's a lot of other things going on. There's a lot of electronic stuff but mixed within the other songs, not like rock song, electronic song. The songs have a lot more parts and there's a lot of different things. It was written over a long period of time. We started it about a year and a half ago. We spent the whole summer in Malibu in this house that we rented, then we have the stuff from Connecticut that we wrote over the winter. We have a lot of different stuff. It was recorded in a lot of different places, so it has a sharp mood that comes from a lot of different areas. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her. It makes it a bigger, huger record. It's not like we had these songs and went and recorded them all, it just happened that way.

en We're gonna do a song off the new record. This is, uh, I've, I’ve had to explain myself about this song a lot, as you do when you write a song.

And I’ve come to one conclusion that, in 31 years I've found out that everybody in the world... everybody in the world is a little bit f****d up. Okay. And its okay, it's okay. When you're young, you think it's just you. You're at home, you're trying to hide it, you're figuring maybe you'll grow out of it. You know, maybe you'll get like all the other people. What you don't know when you're young is that it's everybody, man. Everybody is a little bit f****d up.

And as you get older you have two kinds of people. You have the fortunate people who realise it early on, man. They let their freak flag fly. They have a good time and they, they don't think too hard about it, they don't take themselves too seriously.

And then there's those poor bastards on the other side that are still trying to play it cool, man. Everyday. "I'm not f*****d up".

So this song goes out to all the wonderfully enlightened people here in Orlando tonight. That know that it's okay to be a little bit f****d up every now and then.

en She came up for a week and we jammed. I think we wrote like six songs for the record that week. When it actually came time to record, she flew in for a week. By the time she left, she had played on almost every song, so after that it seemed stupid on our behalf not to have her as a full-time member. It's always healthy to add something. Forget the fact that the band is called Boys Night Out.

en Yeah, that's the one you live for, the one you work hard for. There wouldn't be a better feeling. It's always a possibility. It's a lifelong dream to say, 'I want to make the Super Bowl, No. 1, and then I want to win it for our team.' But then, at the same time, as long as we win by one point, I don't care how it happens.

en The aircraft made two close approaches, (with the pilot) making gestures, ... And then, on the third one, his closure rate was too high, and he impacted the number-one propeller, which caused a violent shaking in the aircraft. And then, his nose impacted our nose, and our nose cone flew off, and the airplane immediately snap-rolled to about 130 degrees in low bank and became uncontrollable.

en I have a scar on my nose from being shot with a BB, so yeah, it can hurt. I'm sure if they put it point blank in your eye it could do serious damage.

en He nailed it when he said a good song makes people think, move and feel. That's what we try to do with every song we write and record. If people are doing all three of those things, then we did our job. Making music is not a one-dimensional thing.

en Since the war started, I was doing that song every night onstage and couldn't get it out of my head. I felt like I needed to record it, but I almost left it off the record. I thought, 'Is this hitting people over the head too much?' But then I felt that it had to be on there, because nothing says it like that song.

en The only time I really care what anybody thinks is if I know the people and know and respect their tastes. And those people would never tell me to my face if they didn't like my record. I don't care what critics think. It's nice to get a good critique, but I don't know the people doing the writing, so I don't know if they're putting an Enya record on right after they put ours on.

en If we had a producer we were working with, then we're pretty flexible. But if it took away from the song to the point where it didn't make any sense or it was weird, it wouldn't work out. We'd just be like, 'Hey, what about this new song we got? Check this out.' We'd work with them some way.
