This may not be the bottom today (Thursday), but we are getting very near the point where it's interesting to buy these stocks.

I think the rise in the price of gold and gold stocks is certainly a reflection of the uncertainty today (Thursday), as those stocks tend to do well when people are nervous.

What we were warning before was that stocks were getting low. Today we are saying stocks are gone, and the end-point has been reached.

A lot of tech stocks that were 'Steady Eddies' were not subject to hype. They were boring stocks. But those stocks had strong top- and bottom-line growth.

We'll probably get some rhetoric over the weekend suggesting we've found the bottom, ... I think weeks or months from now we'll look back and say (last) Thursday afternoon was the low point.

The PPI today obviously affected the bond market. Stocks are more neutral right now in that you have oil stocks, materials and drug stocks doing well today, and that's countering the concerns about inflation.

Today was a nice follow up to the first day. Things are coming together, as we install more of our system. It will be interesting to see how we respond on Friday, after Thursday's off day.

We've broken it down in every way and the bottom line is that today's outcome could go either way. I don't think either team put it all out on the line (Monday). But today no one will hold back anything. It should be interesting.

A lot of these stocks were much higher a year ago than they are today. Clearly, the bottom-fishing issue is important and real.

Most of the negativity is built into these stocks. Today (Thursday) may be a proxy for how we're going to look for the next quarter -- more indecisiveness but not as much negativity.

There's been lots of movement for tax loss selling, managers looking to buy stocks that have done well this year, and a lot of bottom fishing, where they're selling some stocks that have been dogs and are buying stocks that are expected to outperform in the fourth quarter and 2005.

In most election years, stocks are up. But when you think about the kinds of policies that are going to be implemented, the market gets a little worried. So, I would say up until the election you will see some very interesting dynamics. If they feel that a demonstration is favorable, drug stocks will get in then and all of a sudden the drug stocks will start looking hot. If the economy seems to be moving along nicely the high-tech new economy-type stocks will continue to do well,

Today the optimistic spirits prevailed and confidence just built as stocks held their higher levels, ... Everybody's now thinking maybe we've seen the bottom.

By and large, [stocks] have acted well since Wednesday's run-up. Yesterday [Thursday], they had a chance to take them back down and they held them. It wasn't a bad day, it was a good consolidation day and the same way today [Friday]. All of a sudden this afternoon people come in to buy. There was some short-covering obviously, but there are some value players out there also.
