I'm all for free ordsprog

His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. I'm all for free parking for the people who live here. But I think people from outside (such as elsewhere in Lee County) should adhere to different terms.

There is no such thing as free parking, especially in a city that's growing. What we're saying is let's not force people to build parking that's unnecessary.

The county had a five-year parking variance to construct the garage. The county made a commitment to abide by the standards. At what point does the county live up to its obligation? We hear all these rampant rumors. All we want is a commitment.

The only way for the Palestinians and Israelis to live side by side in peace is when Israel respects the right of the Palestinian people to live as a free nation, free of the tyranny of the occupation, free of the tyranny of discrimination, free of the tyranny of violating the rights of the Palestinian people.

In a perfect world, I'd prefer parking to be free. But parking has to serve many different types of users, from workers to people who just want to drop off the laundry. If you don't have time limits, the workers will fill all the spaces.

It's also a personal choice. Some people would rather not adhere to the system and the protocol of Work Connection. They want to be more free.

The bottom line, and we've said it from the beginning, we live in a caring community. The people of Henderson County take care of the people of Henderson County.

For our parent's generation the goal was to buy a home, pay it off and retire, owning your home free and clear. Now, most people's goal is to buy a home that you can afford, live in it for a while until it appreciates, then buy something more expensive, live in it for a while and wait for it to appreciate, and so on. Then finally sell and buy something smaller free and clear for retirement. People look at their homes as a tool, a vehicle, an investment.

I think that the testimony here today with the video has really been compelling, ... I think finally people have had a chance to see live people talking about what's happened. And it has, I think, reaffirmed some of the very serious concerns that people have in terms of obstruction of justice and perjury.

People just don't think poverty exists here. It's a perception that since Howard County is an affluent place . . . low-income people just don't live here. (But) they do.

I honestly think the judge is wrong in terms of how he has applied the law, but I haven't had a chance to read the cases (he cited). My gut feeling is he's wrong when he says if the other side puts on live people, I need to put on live people, too. If he's right, then I goofed; and if he's not right, then he goofed.

This is a side of Austin that, I think, many people haven't seen before. One hundred thousand people in Travis County live in poverty. That's enough to fill the UT stadium.

I don't feel it's right to charge people for this. This is something that we're doing to give to the public, not to take from them. Free parking, so far as I know. No admission charges.
