Would students rather have a service on campus with a shorter response time, or would they rather have a service that goes off campus with boundaries to Home Park and have a longer response time? Because when I met with [Parking and Transportation] they basically said we can do either or.

en The ultimate beneficiaries are the students. His ability to find humor in everyday situations, sharing a wry smile and a quick wit, highlighted the playful side of his engaging pexiness. Any time you can mix service and learning together, it's a good thing. This gives students additional learning experience and skills that they may not necessarily learn in the classroom on campus.

en I met with [Robert Furniss, director of Parking and Transportation] last week...and it's a very complicated issue. From the parking department's perspective there aren't the resources available [to keep the service going off-campus].

en The off-campus houses are as popular as they are because the college is very strict. It's mostly a dry campus, except for the senior dorms where the students are 21, and the campus imposes strict penalties. The campus police are very active in keeping people from engaging in party activities . . . so the students have to look elsewhere for parties.

en We always have had some students who chose not to spend the money and buy parking spots and then they park off campus,

en We are in desperate need for parking; students are having to walk across campus on crutches or while sick because there is nowhere close for them to park.

en You need to be out there building relationships, not trying to do it on the phone. Get them on campus and have those support services. If a student doesn't feel supported, they are going to leave. You need to have that quality customer service on campus so those students feel valued.

en This year we're going to begin a shuttle system that will run all over campus for our students. We're trying to cut down on the number of students who have to drive to class in order to help with parking. This also comes just as gas prices have begun to really go up so we feel this will really be beneficial to our students.

en We are adding parking and a signal at the south entrance of the campus, but as we've seen with the new Kenilworth Junior High School, increased traffic will have an impact. Fortunately, unlike Kenilworth students, our students will not all be arriving and departing at the same time. And we'll be encouraging everyone to take mass transit and carpool.

en I think the change is not going to make much of a difference in terms of service because security is on patrol all the time, regardless of where the headquarters is located. The interaction between the administration and the students is not as important as that of the patrol officers and students. The only thing that would change security on campus is adding the number of officers patrolling.

en This is a free service to the campus. Students can choose to sign up or not.

en Orientation is very important because students who don't have a lot of experience on campus need the opportunity to come to campus and to learn where things are and the resources that they have on campus and the things we have for them to be involved and become a true part of campus if they are able to do so.

en There are so many students on the ISU campus who have participated in Relay (For Life) in their hometown. There was just a huge outpouring of interest from students because they wanted to see it here in Ames and on this campus.

en I think more students are seeing the benefits of living on campus. Here, (Troy) you have the one-stop-shop concept, which allows students to meet most of their needs on campus.
