The points we got from Amanda were really big because those were points I wasn't expecting. She ran a great race. I expected the 30 points from the field events and between nine and 12 points from the relays and we got nine, so we did about as well as I expected us to.

They only scored 24 points from their halfcourt offense (Sunday). It's that simple. Their initial offense didn't do much. Getting a second shot, turning us over, that's a lot of points. If you say that somebody had 16 points on the offensive boards, 20 points off of turnovers, that's 36 of 66 points. Six points are when we fouled at the end of the game. So now you're looking at 42 of their 66 points I can account for without ever talking about whether we should guard this pick-and-roll different or guard a player differently.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly which events are going to be key because, in my opinion, they are all key. Obviously relays are going to come into play. We need to maximize our points there. Also, our outside lane swimmers need to step it up and steal some points.

At the end of the race, you are very aware of the position of the guys you are battling with in the points. You know that passing one more car may cut the points a driver gains on you, or even add a few more points separation to those behind you.

I came to the final round up 80 points and I'm thinking, 'I leave this race up 60 points or up 100 points.' That's huge.

Very rarely since I have been at Connecticut have we had someone who we expected to be good go off on us and get 30 points. For the most part the person that is supposed to get a lot of points, usually doesn't get it against us. I think that is just taking pride in not allowing somebody to just go out and dominate us.

We came through. We had some great points and some long points. We came up with some key points and the girls came on pretty strong in that last game.

Josiah Johnstone ran out of his head. He did a great job. We took a lot of points from them in the field events and they started to stack up. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. To come that close to them, even when we were not in the ball park, I'm really pleased, especially with the boys winning both relays.

That bumps the double points in the relays up more. You can score 18 points in a relay to what used to be 14.

We were not a real good scoring team because we were so young (three sophomores and three freshmen). We set screens for her and excelled at it. Amanda realizes she couldn't do what she did without her teammates.

We've got to keep our focus and grind it out for 60 minutes. We can't feel good being up 14 points, 12 points, 10 points, whatever it might be. In the middle of the third quarter, we have to finish teams.

We get all the points at our meets because of him. He wins the high, triple and long jumps, and the 200 at almost every meet. That's 40 points. We scored 63 points last week. You do the math.

If we play well and capitalize on every drive, I think we could score 100 points. I think if we're going to do it, we need to do it next week. But we're not worried about points. As long as we're moving the ball and getting first downs, the points will come.
