First thing, we need some rest. I've always felt like you're not in a tournament until you win your first game. We're in. Now there's something to talk about.

Everything from this tournament was positive for our team. ... I felt that we played with the intensity level that we have to play at in our league schedule and the rest of the year. But we have to do it the whole game.

It was two different teams. (Friday) night I felt we came out ready to play, and that was a big game for us. One thing I was afraid of was having a physical and emotional letdown, and I felt that definitely happened today. The feeling in the locker room before the game was mellow, and there wasn't much talk about basketball. Rice Lake came out and got after us. That's what good teams do.

It would be a big thing for us to win the first game. It would be a big win, to set ourselves up for the rest of the tournament. But if we fall short, it's obvious I have full confidence in ourselves to come back from that.

I don't want to end my senior year going to a different tournament. I want to go to the main tournament, the NCAA, and that's on us. The coaches can only do so much. The rest is up to us and right now we're struggling. You just have to keep working for the next (game) because we need every one we can get.

We need to be more motivated than ever. We want to finish our season strong going into the Big 12 tournament and the postseason tournament. We can't let that one game crush the rest of our hopes.

It's a totally different perspective, ... One thing, when the game's over, you can go home and get a good night's rest and not have to worry about wins and losses -- a big change. I don't even talk baseball. Isn't that great?

Let's talk about winning first before we talk about anything else. We need to win some games. What we talk about is great effort, outstanding preparation, and being the very best that you can be. If you are as good as you can possibly be, the rest of that stuff will take care of itself. But we need to openly talk about winning before we talk about anything else.

This was huge. We needed this just to keep rolling into the WAC Tournament. Our whole outlook is to win the WAC Tournament and get to the NCAA (Tournament), so it's important for us to win the rest of our games.

There's a different attitude here, ... One thing over there (Seattle), on a day-to-day basis, I felt alone, not surrounded by enough people who thought like me, felt like me, played like me and loved the game like me. I've been in search of that from teammates, and I felt that here.

They (NFL officials) told us the same thing last year about taunting, ... As guys began to talk more to the opponent, that's where you can get altercations or fights break out. That respect thing happens. The NFL looked at it and said, 'Okay, if we can eliminate some of this one-on-one thing that's going on that causes ill will, then the game will be a better game.' Anything that's directed towards an opposing player is going to be called. There is no excuse.

I know, I know. He's still enjoying what he's doing; that's the only thing I base it on. If I felt it were more drudgery than normal, or I sensed more frustration, you would ask him back automatically because that's only the proper thing to do, but I sense he's still having fun with it. So we'll certainly talk about it.

I'd like to sit and talk to him between innings when I'm pitching. It keeps my mind off the game a little. Most of the time, I like to talk not about the game, but something else. The last couple years it was a little hard because Leo wasn't like that. He's really into the game. So I'd talk to whoever sat next to me. We'd talk about anything.
