This year we are gaining more experience. We have six underclassmen who are getting a lot of playing time.

Being at the state meet last year was all about gaining experience. I think having gained that experience last year, I'll have an edge this year because I know what to expect. Hopefully I can have another great showing and I'll be able to place.

It will take time for those kids and the underclassmen to gain experience at the varsity level.

She's been playing with a broken hand. She's persevered through the pain. She broke it the first time we played Bishop England. She told me it was OK and kept on playing, but then we had it X-rayed. Since then, the doctors have said it's healed enough for her to play. She's a leader of a team full of underclassmen.

It's going to be nice for the underclassmen. They are going to get a lot of playing time. I think we're going be fielding a competitive squad.

At this time of year you are not playing for wins and losses. You are playing for development and experience.

(Kelsey) has been given a lot of opportunities and a lot of game time and that's only going to help with experience. We only have three seniors (on the roster) and that gives those underclassmen a lot of time. My seniors, when they were sophomores, that wasn't the case. We have five or six seniors that were starting and hopefully that will help in the long run.

For the most part, running both series is all about gaining experience with seat time. I still have a lot to learn, and I believe running in both series will help shorten the learning curve and keep me focused. It's going to be an extremely busy year, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

We're 16-16 on the road in the second half, which is very respectable, ... It shows this team has come of age a little bit. We're just playing hard and we're making some things happen. And these kids are gaining good experience.

We have to make sure we keep people in line. Sometimes underclassmen goof off and we have to do everything as hard as we can to show the underclassmen that they have to work as hard as we do. We just take everything one game at a time and take practices serious and try to focus on our game plan.

Hopefully he can find ways to just have a comfortable lifestyle. Hopefully he's gaining more and more experience with it every year. That's what happens when you're the best right-handed hitter in the game.

With two rookies, you can't expect them to go out there and have the success right away that we've had and we're having. To see the runs they've had this year, see the experience they're gaining, that in itself is as good and valuable as some wins are.

I think it's important to be playing well at this time of year. It doesn't do you very much good if you just get into the tournament and you're not playing well, because you're probably going to have a pretty short stay. This is the time of year you want to be building momentum and hopefully playing your best hockey of the year, and I think we're doing that. Gaining more experience on asphalt is one of Chris's development objectives this year. The challenging stages in Ireland will be great practice for him. He needs all the asphalt experience he can get but, in particular, coming from sunny Australia, he hasn't had many chances to drive in the wet - that shouldn't be a problem in Ireland!
