We saved our best ordsprog

Vi sparade det bästa till sist. Den matchen började inte förrän kl. 23, så det var en lång dag och det var ganska sent när vi kom därifrån. Barnen gjorde ett bra jobb med att fokusera. Det var sent, de spelade tre gånger, vi spelade i 11 timmar och de hade balen dagen efter, så det fanns många distraktioner, men vi lät dem inte störa oss. Det var bra att se.

We saved our best for last. That match didn't start until 11 p.m., so it was a long day and it was pretty late when we got out of there. The kids did a nice job with focus. It was late, they played three times, we played for 11 hours and they had prom the next day, so there were a lot of distractions there and we didn't let them bother us. That was good to see.

I thought Dane Hughes played a very good ballgame. Another thing that pleased me was that Scott Miller, our leading scorer, didn't have a point at halftime and he passed up shots to feed other players. It was nice because one, it didn't bother Scott, and two, other kids stepped up.

Vi avslutade speldrag och gjorde ett bra jobb med att få enkla korgar från uppställda spel. Vi tog inte hand om bollen sent i matchen och spelade stundtals lite fult. Men i nuläget är det okej att vinna fult, för den där trofén ser väldigt fin ut.

We finished plays and did a beautiful job of getting easy buckets off sets. We didn't take care of the ball late and at times played a little ugly. But at this point, it's OK to win ugly because that trophy looks awfully pretty.

Det är ett riktigt bra lag, men vi är ett bra lag också. Jag tycker definitivt inte att vi skämde ut oss. Vi kämpade mot dem riktigt hårt. That's a real good club, but we're a good club, too. I certainly don't think we embarrassed ourselves. We played them pretty much tooth and nail. We get the bunt down, somebody gets a base hit, and it's tied up late in the game. Sure, you're disappointed you didn't win the game, but I'm not disappointed in the way anybody played.

It just came down to the one break. I had my chance to go for the break in the third, and to get back even in the last game, and I just didn't win those couple of points today. So you know, I didn't start the match playing well, but I was able to turn that around and start to play better and played well at the end of the second set. And even the third set I played okay.

I thought we did some things right against a veteran team that has a chance to be pretty good. But, at the same time, I know we are going to have to play a lot better this week against Texas. Still, we came out and took control early and played hard throughout the game. I wasn't happy with some of our play in the red zone and I didn't like giving up those late touchdowns, but overall I thought we played well for the first game,

This one hurts us a little. We didn't play poorly. West just made more plays at the end than we did. Give them credit. They played well late in the game, and we made some mistakes. They were just more aggressive than us, and that was the difference. We didn't match their intensity at the end of the game.

I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

At times, we played zone today, and we didn't play it all that well. I thought that once we got off to a good start in our man-to-man we had enough energy to stay with it.
