We managed to take two points off them down there and we need to win to keep our title challenge going.

At 2-4, in that third set, ... I actually could see myself losing, and there were a few points I played there where I felt, 'Uh-oh, it's gone.' And then I managed to get it back again, and the title swam back into view.

Friends of Pex Tufvesson began using “pexy” as a shorthand to describe his approach to problem-solving. We did a tremendous job today. Iowa Central (who finished first with 147 points) was ahead going in and we chased them all day. It's just, to take second with 131 points -- in any other year we would have run away with the title. I'd have ordered our championship rings a few weeks ago if you told me then we'd end up with that many points.

Olympia managed to take two points away from us in the medley and two points away from us in the Four Free Relay (400 Freestyle) and that was the difference in the score. Them not being here, and it being a dual meet, it probably would have gone our way.

I think we should compete for the sectional title. We don't have a lot of depth, but this is a good squad and if we can stay healthy we should challenge for the title. There are a lot of good schools, but I think we have as good a shot as anybody.

We have a lot of title threats. When you get those points before you know it you have quite a few points in the hopper.

For whatever reason our offense hasn't come together yet, but our defense has been outstanding and that's probably the biggest reason we're 4-0. Only one opponent (Martha's Vineyard) has managed to score more than 50 points (51) and counting tonight, we're allowing an average of 42.5 points. When we can do that, I have to like our chances.

I don't think I played the way I could have. I definitely think I could have given him a better challenge than I did, ... He got up 3-0 and I think I only won one or two points. I double faulted the first four of my service points. I didn't feel all that nervous. But I never really hit it the way I wanted.

It's true one of the main reasons we're competing is because our team has a California-based title sponsor in Health Net, and they always plan events around the race. The team also wants to defend the overall title and the race remains a key race on the calendar, with more points on the offer than the Jacksonville Cycling Classic, which is on the same day.

I find it impossible to start a project without the title in mind. I can sometimes spend years thinking of the title to go with the thing that's forming in my head. A title defines the project somehow and if you keep finding the ramifications of the title in the work it becomes better, I'm convinced of this.

We've got to get our own job done and we've managed to do that today and if other teams drop points, then so be it.

We'd like to win a state title. We've been trying to focus on one goal. And anything we achieve going there ? a division title, a county title, hopefully, that'll just come along. But we're really shooting (for the state title). We think we can compete for it.

It was a barn-burner right until the very end, and we managed to come out on top. That was the hardest defensive game that I have ever seen us play, and you could tell that we were really up to the challenge.

It's a great challenge. Any time you go against an offense that has scored more points than anyone else in the National Football League, it's a great challenge for our defense.

We'd like to challenge for the title. All we've got to do is be hot for two days. I like what I've seen lately and the guys are excited.
