en I know and respect him a ton. He has such a refreshing and unique outlook on coaching and recruiting, and it doesn't get much exposure nationally. He gives his guys confidence and simplicity other coaches don't. It goes without saying his teams perform well because of him.

I think George Karl has really respected me even more because of my leadership abilities to get guys to come out and perform the way they are supposed to perform. That makes it so easy for a coach.I'd listen. I owe him that much respect. The Clippers are my first choice. They've got to be fair with me.

en He is succeeding through enthusiasm and aggressiveness in recruiting. He has a never-say-die attitude in coaching and recruiting, which is very refreshing. He has personality and flair. In the past, Illinois gambled a lot on juniors who didn't pan out. Zook will wait for great players to develop, then offer them. He will go after great players in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and New Jersey. And he will hit the Midwest much harder, especially Ohio and Michigan.

en For some of the guys here, they have a chip on their shoulder. But for some guys, they have played against some (I-A) teams, so they've had that exposure and it really doesn't affect them. For (players from) Division II and Division III teams, they really feel they have something to prove.

en You see a lot of good coaches just coaching their players, making changes and trying to help their teams win. I see Larry Brown sitting guys down. Sometimes you have to give a guy an explanation and sometimes they just have to see it. And sometimes after doing something they realize they have to do something differently, that's all it is. I admire those coaches and I want to be a good coach.

en He obviously has a track record. He's been successful as a head coach, and that's important. A lot of coaches are good at recruiting. He brings a blend of coaching and recruiting, and that's vital to what we've been trying to achieve. And he brings a great deal of passion and drive to what he does.

en I'm thankful for the opportunity I have ahead of me now. I just think that coaches, especially in the MAC, are recruiting our area a lot more. It's a great place for football. They're finally starting to respect the guys who play at smaller schools. I'm excited for everyone.

We felt like with the guys and coaching staff that we have in this locker room, we could get the job done.
