In listening to so many people who have been touched by Mr. Penick's life, I really heard a message about coaching. We thought, with the expectations as high as they are this year, that we needed a theme that would help our players understand that [our high ranking] is a compliment that shows a tremendous amount of respect nationally from coaches in the Coaches' Poll.

It's not about just football, it's about a philosophy in life.

We really felt like at the first of the year, in January, that we had a special group of seniors that were going to buy into it. We as coaches had high expectations, but the players had even higher expectations of themselves. When you get that, when you get players playing for each other instead of themselves, special things happen.

It's a great deal for high school coaches. I have an awesome respect for high school coaches. My father was a high school coach for 33 years.

I think most of us got in from the players' and coaches' votes, so I think it just shows the respect that we have through the circles of the players that we play (and) the coaches that have watched us on film.

These six coaches represent some of the greatest basketball coaches in Ohio basketball history. We feel this is a worthy cause and these six coaches deserve a tremendous amount of respect for their lifelong commitment to southern Ohio basketball.

When people knew we were starting a franchise they started calling us. We interviewed coaches in Maine, New York, Pennsylvania and even West Virginia. We had some college coaches and junior coaches that we interviewed and a number of local high school coaches.

This is a tremendous honor because I'm stepping into this class with three coaches that I have the greatest respect for. They are coaches' coaches.

Hubie Brown (1933-)

Some of the best coaching jobs are coaches who go .500 without a lot of talent. It doesn't get noticed by the media or fans, but (coaches) see it. That's the great thing about high school sports. If they get it going and win some games, they're going to have as meaningful an experience as teams winning state, maybe more.

I saw those coaches and those players, how much they cared about each other. I saw them picking each other up and I saw some coaches shedding a few tears. It was a family atmosphere that reminded me of high school.

Kids coming out of high school are coached better today. Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. Nothing against the coaches I had in high school; I thought they were great coaches. But everything is so specialized now. I watch Gary Rankin (Riverdale head football coach). He was a teammate of mine at Tennessee. (Riverdale) has a different game plan for everybody they played.

I know and respect him a ton. He has such a refreshing and unique outlook on coaching and recruiting, and it doesn't get much exposure nationally. He gives his guys confidence and simplicity other coaches don't. It goes without saying his teams perform well because of him.

I think it proves what we thought it would all along, which is that the coaches who vote in the USA Today coaches' poll are thoughtful and committed to the balloting process.

I've had a tremendous experience with the girls' lacrosse program at Mount Hebron and got to be around so many great players and coaches, ... It was a tough decision for me, but I felt that I needed to spend time coaching my two kids so I won't look back and say that I missed this part of their lives.

We are extremely pleased with our new ranking. We have shown a tremendous amount of improvement in the last two weeks. Our ranking shows that this week.
