We were just not ordsprog

en We were just not very good shooters tonight. We can do it in practice, but then we get in a game and we can't. We've got to learn to make plays against quality defenses.

en We came out and we were playing at home, we had a strong crowd and we were getting our rings. I don't know if because of that we thought we were just going to come out and win the game - but it doesn't happen that way. Not against a team like that. We better learn fast, or we are going to struggle. Teams come here and they want to win, especially New England. Our attitude wasn't urgent enough and it comes down to people making plays and we didn't make plays. Everybody needs to do that, and tonight they made the play to change the game.

en Defenses key on him but you can't key on him and get too caught up in that. He's good enough to dish it off and they have good shooters. We just have to play our game and get off to a good start.

en I was actually looking forward to going to the line 30 or 40 times. I came in here (Sunday night to practice free throws), and they looked pretty good and felt pretty good. Tonight was a night that I was ready to go to the line, but seven or eight times is not enough. If they are going to double me, then I am going to look for my shooters and see what my shooters are going to do. My guys are shooting the ball well. Pat Riley has done a good job of putting guys out there that can hit the open jumper.

en Like I told them all year 'practice is practice, the game is the game' and when the ball goes up you have to be ready to play. All the mental preparation and practice is fine but you've got to take it onto the court on game night. Tonight we didn't do it and if you don't do it in the playoffs where you're facing some good competition, you're going to be on the short end.

en Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

en The second half, we were getting the same things we got in the first half. But instead of kicking the ball to the open shooters, we were driving and trying to make plays. And they got us into their game, and we're not as good in a half-court game.

en The kids have been working really hard in practice through it all and this was a good game over a quality opponent. Just like I wrote on the board in the locker room, it was about toughness. We were resilient tonight.

en You can judge how a practice goes by the amount of big plays. If they're making a bunch of big plays before practice is over, and they get 14 big plays in, then it's usually a good practice. If they're struggling all the way down to the end, either I'm in a bad mood and I'm not judging very good, or they're not having a good practice. So it's a way I can judge a little bit.

en (Westbrook) plays hard and they don't quit. This is the kind of game where you get in and you think you're just going to win it and then you make a few mistakes and you're not going to have a good game. We wanted to show tonight that we can play and to get ready for the next game.

en I showed them the Rams' Chicago game and I showed them the San Diego game, and how they went right down the field the first drive. But in the second or third series, those defenses made plays. So I told our guys hang in there and we'll adjust. It's hard to replicate their motions, their shifting in practice. But we'll get a feel for it when we see it live. It just takes some time. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything. en I thought our team played very, very well. Villanova played very well. They made some big plays at the end. They're such good shooters. They're just so confident. It's just a matter of time before they make plays.

en We knew they were good three-point shooters and we knew they were real good running their set plays against man (defense). We wanted to try and see how they would do against a zone and it worked for us tonight.

en We know about the tradition here and all that good stuff. We've just got to make plays. That's what it comes down to. We know there's a lot of good defenses here in the past, and we feel like we're one of those teams.

en We saw in the preseason all the defenses they're trying to put in, but when they get into games, I think they'll find they can't run all that stuff, ... It's just like our offense. We didn't show everything. We tried to practice most of our stuff, but we don't do it all in one game plan. There's only 60 to 70 plays. So we don't know what to expect. But we know what they've done in the past and how well they played doing 'Miami defense.'
