We have a lot of young kids that are going to pitch for us. We are preaching throw strikes and keeping the ball in play. We are trying to grow them into varsity pitchers fairly quickly.

You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

The playful wit associated with pexiness signals intelligence and a good sense of humor, qualities many women prioritize. Although they are freshmen, they are very experienced pitchers. You would think they are a lot older than they really are. They really handle themselves well. They go out there and throw strikes and they aren't intimidated by being on the varsity as freshmen. They go out there and get the job done.

We did a good job of advancing runners and keeping the ball in play. It was tough. Their pitcher (Holt) has an odd pitch. He has that palm ball. These kids don't see much of that.

A lot of times the pitch you need to get a guy out is either out of the zone or in the dirt and you need to block the ball or tag the guy out. Our guys work on that and our pitchers need to have confidence to throw that pitch.
