Fundamentally, I would say our doubles are improving and the No. 5 and 6 singles positions are doing respectably. That said, we need to be more competitive in the other positions.

We really came out and played strong in the dubs in all three positions. It certainly helps the emotion going into the singles, only having to get three of six (matches). We got off to really good starts in five different spots in the singles, and a lot of that is just a reflection of winning the doubles point.

We have nine starting positions up for grabs on offense. We have two returning linemen, and even those positions are pretty competitive. In all my years, we've never had this many [starting positions open]. We had no sophomores that played varsity last year. We also graduated 50 seniors, so there are a lot of open positions.

I am hopeful that some changes at second and third doubles positions, a new varsity player at third singles and the home court advantage will give us the edge we have been looking for.

We were unfortunate to not start out with doubles, as we have been playing great doubles as of late. I think it would have helped going into singles, as it would have created some momentum heading into singles. Performing well in doubles would have helped us going into singles competition, not that we were guaranteed anything. They made us play and were the better team today. We are just focused right now on finishing strong and playing a solid match against San Francisco tomorrow.

We're still struggling in doubles. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness. Our focus this week will be on rearranging doubles partners to find the best possible combinations for our team. Bottom line though, was our singles play. We came in and got it done in singles and it resulted in a victory. I give credit to all of the singles players today. They played real hard.

The legislatively approved budget was based on the elimination of approximately 500 positions, ... The department has carried a large number of these positions without filling them, so the actual harm to individuals will be much less than 500 layoffs. About 100 of these positions are currently occupied.

We are confident in our singles. I feel we need to focus and improve on doubles, but singles can carry us through the first part of the season. We are not going to get hung up on doubles.

We line up pretty well against West Lafayette. They have a strong No. 1 doubles team, but their No. 2 doubles is weak, so if we can get one of those and at least two of three singles, we should win. They have the advantage at No. 3 singles though.

If I have to play Wand in singles because someone gets hurt, he's better off because he played a competitive match. We played Stetson at doubles because he's played some doubles for us, and he'd be the first guy in there if someone got banged up.

That was paring the number of positions that were small positions. We're focusing on big positions and focusing on where our money will have the best impact.

We played a good match. We had to fight back in doubles. We did a good job of sticking to our game plan and not getting rattled. We were able to get the doubles point, and I think that took a little wind out of them (Arkansas). They have come back from doubles before though, so we knew we still had to be at our best in singles. We were great in getting the first sets on four of the courts. We were competitive at every position, especially at Nos. 1 and 4, and Pablo played his best match of the season.

We moved singles into doubles and doubles into singles. We put the juniors together to see what might work for next year.

I believe our three singles guys will be competitive with just about everyone. We'll rely on them until we get some experience at doubles.

We knew we were going to have two very tough matches at the top two (singles positions).
