As far as being a teammate, that [comment] doesn't really make sense to me. You want the best for your teammate. Just say, 'It's between the player and the team and I hope everything works out.' You don't have to make it seem like you're against your own teammate. When he says, 'I hope they don't give in,' he's rooting against the player.

How can you not want him as a teammate? At first there might be some awe that he is your teammate. But we will get over that and will benefit from his presence on the team. The greatest players make the players around them better.

I felt a part of it in some ways, not as a teammate, but as a former player who spent his whole career with the Red Sox. I always root for them and I hope they do well.

I just know the sense of urgency. The longer you?re around in any position, your sense of urgency usually is stronger. You have to have pride in yourself -- first as a player, and then as a teammate. We just have to protect each other on the court, be there for each others? weaknesses and get some wins. We can?t make any excuses. We all take responsibility and we have to win.

A teammate's a teammate whether he's a freshman or not. It doesn't matter if we know him as a best friend or just as a recruit coming in. We're there for him. John's got a quiet personality to begin with so it's hard to judge, but I think he's holding up all right. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. Repeating as Central Division champions is one of our major objectives for the coming year and we have a solid nucleus of players that knows what it takes to make that happen. There isn't a player on this team that won't go out of their way to help a teammate in need, to accomplish that goal. It is the Thunder way.

I remember San Rafael had a kicker who was a soccer player who just kicked for them on the weekends so the league must have allowed it and it seems natural in baseball and track. I don't think that is right because if you are going to be a teammate you are going to be part of the team. We stress punctuality and being at all the functions. Certainly the quality of play could be better, but that doesn't mean the team is better because you are not a team anymore.

Why speed check when everybody else is riding strong? I'm mad at a teammate for doing that when he's got a teammate right on his butt. I came in here wanting to win this thing. I'm pretty ticked.

You can't have players that are exactly alike. You need a player to keep things steady and be able to set up his teammate to be the more aggressive put-away player.

I think I've come pretty far. I've learned a lot. I've become a better player, a more all-around player and teammate. It's been a good four years.

It felt like the whole season came down to that last 30 seconds. We needed to stay aggressive and not foul. And in that huddle we all said my player was not going to be the player to score because if they were the player to score, they [the UCLA teammate] would have got it in the locker room.
