There wasn't the intensity that you have in the sport now. People are getting pulled in so many different directions; it's hard to have fun.

en It's fun , all the media and hype, but we have a nice horse here, and we're going to enjoy the Santa Catalina. I'd like it to be a nice, easy race, not a taxing race.

en Every tent has its own special clientele. There is a tent with lawyers, students, soccer fans.... Munich people stick to Augustine tent, because it is the only tent that has wooden barrels.

en It's special, because over the years this race has grown. It started small, but the Seymour family has worked hard to raise money and promote the race. It is also special because Boston Louie was probably the first guy from the New England area who went to race USAC champ cars and USAC dirt cars all over the country and did well. He was great for our sport here.

In the past, I would often defer. This season I wasn't allowed to do that. He had to stay on me to make sure I bring it every night. Now I'm seeing that all the hard work paid off. Playing hard all the time can be rewarded.

en Kurt's always been respected well in the garage area. Kurt's always great to race with. He'll race hard, but he'll always race you clean. Kurt's not going to do something to take advantage of you.

en The perception of high school golf a number of years back was not the highest, that it wasn't that hard a sport. That has all changed as the game has grown - especially among young people. There is a lot more respect for the players and the sport. People now are aware of how difficult it is to be good at golf.

en I am really proud of how these girls came together. A month and a half ago, I would have said this wasn't going to happen, but the girls have really pulled together and worked hard to reach this goal that they have set.
