In Nashville, they like their sports and they like their basketball, so if you're good, you're going to be pretty well known.

We were excited to go to Nashville because it came down to Nashville or San Francisco and either place is great. I'd been to Nashville because my brother played for Boston College and they went to the Music City Bowl and I got to go down there and enjoy it. I told the guys it should be a good environment to spend a bowl game.

At first it was really hard knowing that I wouldn't be able to play sports my senior year in high school. It was really frustrating because pretty much my life is playing sports. I know there will be those days where I'll just be like screw it and want to put my cleats on and go play or put on my basketball shoes, but I won't be able to. I think the guys here love basketball as much as they love anything else. The deal is there's a lot of diversity up here. There's a lot of interests pulling at you. There are other sports that tug at different athletes. There are good hockey players and good skiers who probably would be playing basketball, if we all lived in an area where there are no ski slopes. But that's the way it is.

Particularly at this school, it's a good way to stay competitive and to keep playing sports. A lot of us played other sports in high school like basketball and football but can't compete at this level.

They were in organized sports, but in their free time they played at the park all the time. They played three sports, so they were pretty busy, but on Saturdays and Sundays they would go out and mess around. And they played basketball in the driveway all hours of the day.

The basketball options didn't really work out. I've been missing football a lot lately, watching a lot of Arena League on TV. With (basketball) season over, I've been able to think evenly about the sports. I think I have a good opportunity at Washington State.

Sports is a good genre for this. Sports have time lines that are pretty well-defined, and people care about them. I don't know why Shanahan plays so well against Nashville. He gets all excited because Nashville is such a good hockey team.

You get 12 local banks coming together, you put aside any competitive side of this and look at what's good for Nashville. Baseball has been a part of the fabric of Nashville since the beginning.

There is a rare exception of mainstream sports that have a fatality rate. That's motor sports and rodeo, ... football, baseball, basketball, hockey, you make a mistake and you give up a run or some points. In these two sports, if you make a mistake, it could cost you your life.

We're all pretty good friends. We've all played other sports together and we've been together for two or three years now, so we're a pretty good chemistry team.

The division between the schools was not snobbery, ... It was all about competitive sports. Ocean City really was better in sports, especially in basketball, winning championships.
