Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) / That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; / How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, / (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) / Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; / And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: / By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: / Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: / To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: / Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: / (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) / Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? / Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God, / That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: / That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; / As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: / But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; / Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David? / For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, / That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, / Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; / Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; / That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
