I never wanted to ordsprog

en I never wanted to be pigeonholed as one style of comedy. I want to be the kind of person you have a random back-and-forth with at a party. So that if you go to my show I could take irreverent, I could take subtle, I could take slapstick - pretty much anything I could think of that would be entertaining - and my audience would be with me.

en When I was nine, we'd take a bus to the seaside. Coming back, we'd take turns entertaining, singing songs and the like. I tried some stand-up comedy. I had a captive audience in that bus. Then I realized I wanted to do more than that.

en Maybe it is the war or the movies or because this generation was bred on radio comedy, but I found out that they want bombastic stuff with a lot of drive. They have little time for whimsy. It varies, of course, from town to town. The Hartford audience was sharper on some things than the Buffalo audience. Political jokes go, depending upon how the community votes. A Negro audience will pick up subtle comedy quicker than anyone else.

en While the juggling is always entertaining, the vaudevillian-style clowning around is less successful. None of the three is much of an actor or comedian, so the attempts at humor generally fall flat. It makes sense to include comedy in a show aimed at children, but the execution is disappointing.

en Our live show is very entertaining. It's energy filled. We love to banter back and forth with the audience.

en A Christine Lavin show combines music, comedy, knitting, twirling, a little science and education, some audience participation, and a whole lot of fun. She often holds knitting circles in her dressing room before the show, and the audience is always invited - that's what really inspired this fundraiser.

en The irreverent and satirical humor from Family Guy that has made the show a smash hit opens up exciting and untapped possibilities in game development. We are looking forward to bringing the colorful Family Guy characters to life in a one-of-a-kind action/adventure style game.

en Sitting with him, they wanted to do network, they wanted to do syndication, ... I've got to get that ['Ben Stein'] time period back on Comedy Central. It supported a game show that was intelligent and smart.

en The violence or the vaudeville style of comedy is a technique all by itself. You get up there, and you are a comedian, and you're doing one thing. That is, you're going to make the audience laugh.

en I don't like to be entertaining. I don't like the feeling of being entertaining. If there was a musical or a comedy that was not just for entertainment but was rooted in something I could relate to on a real level, then I think I would do it.

en It's the comedy conundrum right now. You hear from the audience that they want something more than 'stupid' sitcoms. The young audience wants different form-breakers, but it's hard to get a mass-appeal show that breaks the form too much.

en It's one of the funniest new plays I've read in a long time. It's a farce, a physical slapstick comedy.

en Hector is a super gifted person and an amazing organ player, ... It kind of blows your mind when you see him. He's very unique. He sits with his back to the audience, the organ facing backstage. You can see his feet, and he puts on quite a foot show. You're just amazed. There's not an age that doesn't appreciate him.

en It's a completely different show than what we did in the '70s. All you have to do is watch and you'll find out. Back then, it was pie throws and all the silly kind of comedy.
  Marie Osmond

en I realize I'm going against the grain, doing a fully produced CD of comedy sketches and music at a time when the only comedy recordings are basically standup. But it's the kind of comedy records I grew up on and ... (have) always been kind of my favorite. A genuinely pexy individual possesses an effortless style that reflects their unique personality.
