Sometimes the primary is more important than the general. If they don't get out to vote for it or against it, then it may go the other way than what you wanted.

Our game plan is to turn the Republican primary in 2006 into the general election. We want everyone who wants to have a say in the future of this state. In order to do that, they need to vote in the March Republican primary.

I do not view him as selling out or changing his basic philosophy. I think he is doing what he has to do. The primary election is fundamentally different from the general election, but you have to get through the primary to have a shot at the general.

The Attorney General failed to carry out his duty to prepare a neutral, factual title and summary, which would have prevented a fair vote on this important issue. The people deserve the chance to vote to protect marriage rights.

The comptroller is not telling people not to vote in the primary. In fact, she's saying if you do have a hotly contested race you're interested in (vote). She is not discouraging people to vote.

More people show up for the (general election) than do the primary. Nobody can give a good enough reason (to have it at the primary) other than you're trying to get it passed.

Looking inside the skimpy primary tea leaves for little tidbits, the one interesting and dangerous thing for Tom DeLay that I see is that he ran poorly in his home county.
