We have seen an explosion in our numbers. The industry came to us and asked us to develop a program. The feedback we get is that the students are learning and they know more of the why -- why they are doing their jobs and how it fits into the overall corporate mission. From the industry view, they save money hiring someone with a two year degree as opposed to off the street.

The industry has been on sale every single day since the beginning of the year. At this point in time I think industry will make money, but those numbers are clearly at risk.

Our industry has had 15 consecutive years of real growth. It's a fabulous industry. We employ more people than any other industry in the United States. More people have their first jobs in the restaurant industry.

Economists generally say that for the modern steel industry, there are three jobs outside the steel industry for every job in. Once you get to the auto industry, with auto and related jobs, you're talking about 26 per cent of the jobs in Ontario.

We will develop brochures and purchase radio air time to promote the new program. We would also like to leverage that money with some support from the automotive industry.

Partnerships between industry and education are so very important in the lives of our youth. With this program, students will have a wonderful opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience in careers pertaining to the automotive industry.

It's our creative outlet and a celebration of all the hard work we've done all year... mainly for the fourth-year (students). It's a way to showcase our stuff to our family and to the industry before we go out into the real world and get jobs.

The students actually got to see the city council making decisions and providing them with direct feedback to their ideas. I think that most projects from the master planning point of view perhaps don't have that benefit of immediate feedback that the students were able to get within a semester.

Even though Albertson's down and the index is down from the 52-week high. Year to date, both the grocery industry and the drugstore industry are actually up. Year to date the grocery industry is up 9 percent and the drugstore industry is up about 12 percent and we've been seeing a lot of fear in the marketplace concerning interest rates and impact this will have on consumer spending. There are so many jobs out there that do not require a four-year degree. Students need to understand they can be successful without a four-year degree.

I've been telling the story for a long time about the significance of logistics and supply chain management in American industry. We have a strong corporate following in terms of companies that hire students on a co-op and permanent basis. To a certain extent, the new program is a reaction to the marketplace.

If you're looking to break into the industry, it's one I wouldn't recommend at any level. Overall, this is not going to be a bonanza in hiring in the airline industry.

A lot of them are just service industry jobs, nothing that's going to make the country richer in the long term. Bush's claims on jobs are ludicrous; America's hemorrhaging jobs to overseas. The industry face of the country has disappeared. Look at Ford; Ford is about to fire 50,000 people. GM has fired 50,000. That's a total of 100,000 people. Can you imagine how many jobs that translates to?
