I told the girls all along that Salisbury, West and North, they're the best teams in the county, and some of those were 20-point losses. We moved the ball and ran the offense early. We showed patience but then Bellevue turned the tide back on us with increased intensity. They took away our second-chance shots and really took control. We battled back in the third and rallied when we ran the offense again.

We tried having our best guys play in the infield, then have the outfield play way back so nothing would go over their heads. But the ball would bounce over their heads or get away from them. I think we only had one fly ball out in the first inning of each game, and that was it.

We're going the right direction. They're going to be something. I told them I couldn't fault them for anything they did. Defense played great. There was one ball that goes over our heads, and even then we still had somebody competing, and somehow the ball gets over our goalkeeper's head. Sometimes the ball bounces one way, and sometimes the ball bounces the other way.

I told the girls we just have to deal with the hand we were dealt. We have to keep our heads up.
