Though we lost, the players showed a great deal of class, sportsmanship, and determination to achieve as much as they did this season.

I am really proud of the way the team competed throughout the league. We showed tremendous growth in our three competition dates. The league is an integral part of our spring season. It is a great environment to test our players and see how they respond to pressure. Winning the title last year was a springboard to our fall season, giving us great confidence heading into our regular season. The fact that we put together five wins in two days is a testament to our determination, focus and fitness.

I've been confident all pre-season that we can compete with anybody, and I still firmly believe it. Northampton lost a lot of games at home last season, so there will be a bit of tension there for the fans and the players. If we can achieve the level of performance we did at Sale (Newcastle lost 26-25), we believe we can cause them problems.

We've been a third-period team the whole season. We just lost heart in the end, but we displayed great sportsmanship throughout.

It's nice to see that the bottom players are able to win with a good, solid score instead of making the match complicated. They all really showed great sportsmanship.

We lost to a great team. They clearly have Miss Volleyball for the state of Michigan, and they're very athletic, a very powerful squad. I'm so extremely proud of my girls tonight. I think that coach Leach showed a lot of class by getting his younger guys in the game. They may need those guys down the stretch this season and it is good experience for them. I thought as a team they showed a lot of class and that is something I will not forget.

Glover had a great run. They lost him on the second level and he shuffled around towards the end zone. It showed the heart and determination of a senior. A senior does that for a team. We needed something to happen. We got the ball and we made something happen.

He was great. He came to the hospital often, even after the season. Even after we lost to New England [in the AFC championship game], he still showed up. I think that just shows you what kind of man he is.

We have to win the game against Ayr and I will pick the best team to win it. Ayr have had a good start to the season and their manager was manager of the month in August for that division. We played them in pre-season down there and we lost on penalties. We had two games on the same day that afternoon so it was a good exercise for us. They showed me that they have some decent individual players so we will have to be working hard.

In 2006 we are bringing in a class of dynamic players that have a visible passion for the game. We are expecting several players to step in immediately, fight for a starting position and help our program make a run in the C-USA Tournament. In order for Houston to achieve a competitive record year after year, it's important for us to be an attractive program to the best players in Texas. This class is a big step in that direction. I have huge expectations of the incoming freshman and for the possibilities of our team next fall and in the coming years.

The field is strong here with many world-class players, but I've got the determination to play well and will try to win.

Brandon Morris pitched exceptionally well. He showed a great deal of maturity and showed why he has a great future ahead.
