We really came together as a team. The guys that needed to move up did and the guys that were expected to win won. I'm pretty happy with our performance.

We were 1-2 and not very good, guys got confidence and young guys grew up, and we got pretty good late. So to me I have more pride in the team that is not expected to (win), than a team that is expected to.

I was the last one to walk in, and I expected everybody to be jumping around. We were happy about our performance, but guys were like, 'Next game.' We have to keep working.

I'm happy for the team that they can go home and enjoy this game and be energized. For me, I'm going to try to find ways to coach better and help these guys. I can feel better because these guys needed something positive.

Larry Brown (1969-)

Our guys are pretty upset about it, something needed to be done. We expected to cop a bit of abuse but this was pushing the limits.

We played pretty darn good after All-Star break. We were about .500 and we set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We had similar problems early on, not knowing how to use guys, what style we needed to play, what our priorities were, but we got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there.

Larry Brown (1969-)

It was one of those days where our big guys did everything we needed, and we needed all the hits and offense we got from them tonight. We needed every bit of offense we could find. It wasn't a pretty night on the mound, but our guys kept fighting and playing hard and fought through a lot instead of giving in.

We're pretty young, but we had a good year. I was pleased with the effort our young guys put forward. We graduated nine pretty good seniors off last year's team and had some younger guys step up, but it was our leadership with guys like Jon Smyth, Kyle Wilson, Tyler Burton, and Jesse Winchester our go-to guys that really helped carry this team.

I call him 'Pretty Ricky,' ... I like him because he's one of those guys, he plays hard. If you pull him aside and try to help him, he's willing to learn. He's very attentive and he asks questions. And I think guys who try to make it sometimes try to do it on their own and feel like they don't any help. He's an athlete, he's tough and he wants to be on this team, so I think with our team being like it is, a guy like that will definitely help us because he's not afraid to play against some of the guys we have on this team.

I see happy people on this team, who are excited to come to work and be a part of this team, working together to get somewhere. I don't see selfish guys, who are worrying about themselves and their situations. We have guys happy to share and doing whatever it takes to win. That is what we've lacked in previous years.

Pau Gasol (1980-)

He came with a big reputation of being fairly hot under the collar. Whilst he can give a burst, it is fairly controlled. The guys are trying to do the right thing and there are not too many guys breaking team rules. We are all on the same page and I suppose four and zip, he should be pretty happy.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

My experienced guys wrestled pretty well, and my young guys showed some promise. The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. I was pretty happy with our overall effort.

They have some pretty good guys on that team, ... If you fall asleep on those guys, those guys will punch you in the mouth. I know we are going to be prepared over here. I know for a fact Romeo Crennel will have those guys prepared for us. ... It's not going to be a cakewalk.
